XM commander and Ipod

XM commander and Ipod
I'm a total noob when it comes to audio stuff, and I tried looking through the threads for what I need to do, but couldn't find anything in my situation, so I apologize in advance if there is a similar thread.. if there is please direct me.
ok, I have a 2004 gt package with the mp3 deck and bose speakers. What I had installed (from an audio specialist store, since im useless) was my ipod and xm commander hard-wired through an fm modulator. They both use the same fm modulator. The ipod has a cord that comes out of the glove box/drink holder area and the xm commander is installed where the ashtray used to be (also found in other threads). I have a little toggle switch by my drink holder, that when turned on, the fm modulator kicks in and kills the attena completely dead so I won't get any static from the regular attena. I can only use the sat radio or ipod one at a time, obviously, since they both run through the same fm modulator.
What i'm finding, 6 months later and has really bothered me for a long time is that the satallite radio sounds really low and shallow. It only uses 3 speakers (front left, front right and rear center) I have to turn the treble to max to make it sound better and my volume up quite a bit.
I hear and read alot about ice links and pie adapters and such, but I honestly don't really know or understand how they work.
My question I guess is, what do I really need to hook up my satallite radio directly to my stereo and to get rid of this fm modulator. I have a tape/md button that does nothing.. is it possible to hook it up to that? Is that an aux in that I could use?
I am more concerned about the sat radio being hooked up correctly and sounding better than the ipod, since I hardly use my ipod anymore. I might even remove the ipod and fm modulator if need be.
I appreciate the help or guidance.
Thank you

The Auxmod basic allows you to use that tape/md button and adds an RCA input into your system. More information on this can be found at their site http://www.sylfex.com/products/AuxMod/
