the skyfi 2 has a built in wireless FM modulator. it shoudl say in the guide somewhere what stations you can set the FM tuner to in the car to get the XM signal from the Skyfi 2. I have the roady 2 and it has the built in wireless modulator. they're putting that in all the new models. I use 107.7 there are like 5 or 6 other fm frequencies to chose from if there's a station in your area assigned to a particualr FM frequency. you'll also have to set the Skyfi2 to "broadcast" to the FM frequency you pick. read the manual. it's all there.
as far as i know there is no battery pack yet for the skyfi 2. they myfi has a rechargeable on and the roady 2 has one coming out real soon if it's not out already. you might want to think abotu exchanging the sky fi 2 for a roday or myfi

You can always take the cigarette lighter and as long as it outputs 12V to the SkiFi2, cut the wires and splice them to power in the car. And even if it doesn't output 12V you can always just solder onto the ends of the cig lighter and stash that in the car somewhere. Then you can just run the power wire to the cradle in some discreet way.

Installed the XM Roadie2 using the PIE adapter and it sounds very well. The small antenna sits inside the top hooking point for the childseat, onto the metal shelf under the plastic grill and works fine. The wire is behind the back of the rear seat and comes to the front under the silver side pannel of the center console. The radio is in the arm rest compartment where the power outlet, antenna wire and the AUX adapter meet. All stealthy, nothing to take a pic of except the unit with the wires hooked. No wires hanging around in the car.
The disavantages could be the summer heat and that I need to open the compartment to change the station.
I tested the FM modulation also and was OK. I think the Roadie2 emits through it's antenna, so puting it in the rear deck, next to the FM car antenna, might have helped. This should save you the money and hassle of doing the PIE AUX mod... I had it already so I just used it, if not, I would have used the FM modulation as I have no tape myself either.
