Just checked out the website and the ship date has changed from the week of March 6-10 to the week of March 20-24. Tell me it isn't true.
I've got an iPod and Sirius receiver that I'm dying to hook up, and no solution in sight.

All orders placed prior to right now will be shipped this week. All future orders will be shipped March 20-24. (note: there's a possibility they may ship towards the end of the prior week)

I wanted to mention that I've now had the same issue as Moumtz and LoveMy8. I wasn't able to read a CD or switch to the audiolink cable (EX). I only had access to AM/FM. Listening to Sirius over FM sux when you're used to a direct connection. Once I pulled the battery lead everything was back to normal. Hopefully, this won't become a habit.
Just for the record, I have 9.55 firmware in my '04 8 and am using a 5G iPod.
FalconTx, any ideas?

The problem is not related to the car or firmware, but we have been unable to determind the exact cause. The manufacturer has been notified and they will be attempting to correct it in the upcoming firmware update that will include the new playlist features. We're expecting this firmware to be available the week of March 20-24 and will be posting instructions on how to order it once it has arrived. The maximum cost will be $5 and you will not be required to return your unit to us unless you are uncomfortable changing socketed chips on a circuit board.

So...my head unit's firmware is 9.53. I said "no way" to getting it upgraded, so I just went ahead and ordered the Mazda cd/mp3 unit (ugh). It then dawned on me...is this where the faulty firmware is? Will the new unit have a new firmware and allow me to use this adaptor?

No sorry. The firmware is located in the Head Unit core. The CD/MP3 unit you ordered is simply a disc drive that gets swapped with the current single disc drive.
In fact the head unit works perfectly fine on its own without a disc drive installed at all...granted only the radio will work .

it is a single disc module that plays data discs burned with mp3s on them...they unfortunately don't have a cd changer with mp3 capability
so choices for the drive are one of these:
1) single disc (stock)
2) 6 disc optional
3) Mp3 Disc optional

That's lame. Wish my 6-disc was MP-3 capable. I've been using my iPod for so long in my old car, I don't even have CDs anymore... This iPod thing is going to have to be my solution. Wish it had playlist integration thru the HU display... Any chance that'll happen soon? *wishful*

The units that are currently shipping do have playlist support. Our website has been updated. I need to updated the first post too. For now, you can find the details here:

I don't use playlists yet on iPod, so how does that work with this unit (supports up to 9 playlists)? But what I was trying to ask was if there will be integration with the stock display to show what songs are playing on ur iPod coming anytime soon?

You create the iPod playlists using iTunes. On your iPod, you can list the playlists to see what order they are in. The AudioLink simply uses those playlists that were created with iTunes.
Text display is not currently supported. It has been mentioned, so they may be working on it, but they mentioned that it may not work with all vehicles. That's all of the information I have at this time.

Hopefully that will give you a better idea about the possibilities for locations.

If you really want the cable to reach the hidden compartment, just splice away, but I am satisfied with my setup. Visit this link for pics:

My install is very similar to yours, just a slightly different route into the cup holder area.

Has anybody actually installed it in the hidden compartment? If so were the wires difficult to splice? Were the wires all different colors?
