Unforunately, I have no idea.We had some some testing previously on the original version and it seemed to use alphabetical order. However, the new one does not. Using your example, I believe it would start in FOLDER1, and then when you choose next, it would go to the next song in FOLDER1. It shouldn't get to FOLDER2 until song 51. However, I don't know what method is used to determine which order the songs are played in. It will probably seem random in the sense that there's no order, but it will always play them in the same order (when not in random mode), so in that sense it's not random. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

But then I can't jump folders accurately, only the 100-song breaks via "EX" list?

For example: Say I have 50 songs in FOLDER1, 49 songs in FOLDER2 and 99 songs in FOLDER3. EX1 = FOLDER1 + FOLDER2. If I get the unit, install, pop in my drive, where will it start?

* Song 1 in FOLDER1?
* Random song in FOLDER1?
* Random song in EX1
* Random song anywhere?

Once it starts playing that song, what will "NEXT TRACK" get me?

* Next alphabetical song?
* Next random song in current folder?
* Next random song in current EX list?

It would definitely work when input via the 1/8" stereo plug. If the player can function as a USB storage device, the AudioLink should be able to read the songs off of the hard drive. I don't have any hands-on experience with the iRiver.

I just sent out an email to everyone with an outstanding order.

We were expecting them this week, but the manufacturer wanted to hold off so we could get the latest design, which will include an easily extendable iPod connector and higher quality harness. We are expecting to have all orders shipped by June 5-9, 2005. I apologize for the delay. We just want to make sure you guys get the latest and greatest products!

i have a Q: does the connector have the things on the side where you have to press the sides in to release the harness? i ask because Id like to make a mount with the harness inside.. and id like to be able to slip the ipod in and out without pressing on the sides

Yes it does have them. Without them, you'd have a difficult time maintaining a good connection.

Yes, that's probably what happened. The antenna cord is right next to where the AudioLink plugs in. It usually doesn't have much play left, so it's not uncommon for it to pop out when the headunit is pulled forward.

Yes, we are expecting them to arrive this week. If you want th iPod connector with 1/8" line input, it will ship next week as there was a delay on those connectors.

Nope. Almost everything is on schedule. We are shipping all USB units and "iPod connector only" orders today and over the weekend. We were short on the "iPod connector with video out" so only half of those are shipping, but we have more cables on the way, so everything should ship next week.

Just installed mine yesterday, works great, I love the new set up with the ipod connector by istself. One question, the ipod doesn't turn off with the car the ipod shows "charged", will this drain my battery if i leave it connected

No, it will not. The amount of power required to display that on the iPod is similar to that of a digital watch, or the power required to remember your radio presets.

Currently, a cable with both does not exist, though I will forward your request to the manufacturer.

Sorry, I missed it. The iPod connector connects to the AudioLink using an 8-pin mini-DIN connector, so it can be easily extended using an 8-pin mini-DIN extension cable, such as this:

Anyone experience this: somewhere on my flash drive, there is apparently a 7-second blank spot (or more than one). My "random" selects it frequently, and then goes to the SAME song after it, every time. Very weird. Anything?

I haven't had this mentioned before. Do you have anything other than MP3s on the drive? One way to troubleshoot this is to remove everything from the drive aside from a few MP3s to see if you can replicate the problem.

I got my Audioling from Donny about a weekago. It is the newest model, you can actually remove the cord to the Ipod from the unit. So that should be easy to extend if you need to.

I own a MX5, and have a couple issues, so far. I will not go into playlist mode. When i hit the Disc + - Button on teh head, it will read EX2, hit it again and EX3, etc. But nothing happens. and the Nano display stays on, not as documented, It should say "Do not disconnect". Today at lucn time I was out and hit the Disc - button, jsut to see if anything would work and now it doesnt even go to EX2. Turn the Head off and back on and its goes to EX1:66 and its back to regular mode.

This is not a huge deal to me, but it would be nice to have playlist mode, as I want to keep the Nano hidden away in the golve box. My prior vehicle, had a HU that would play MP3s, singe disk, I alwyas just left one disk in and played it, what ever was next. So what I have now with the Audiolink is not much different.

I know this is a RX8 forum, but seems the best info on the Audiolink is here.

Any suggestions??

Donny chime in if you want. But I have already emailed you about it.
