I think the site had the updated status. I definately got e-mail notification of shipment on Saturday (it was in my junk email filter at first though; you may want to check there).

The AudioLink includes a 1/8" line input. You can plug any external audio device into the AudioLink via this port, including the Satellite radio unit that you mentioned.

Redcivic, I'm not sure if you were asking Mark about the cost of his satellite unit or not. Pricing for the AudioLink is mentioned in the first post of this thread.

Will the steering wheel controls work if I hooked up the Sirius satelite unit or the IPOD?

The 1/8" line input is audio only. The steering wheel controls only work with the iPod.

hey... i got mine, and it looks beautiful.... unfortunately, i cant remove my head-unit!

does anyone have any tips on how to remove the A/C wiring harnesses? i was able to easily undo the left one, but the middle one is proving to be a b*tch... Even with a flashlight, dentist's mirror, and a small screwdriver, i cant get it undone!

currently, im trying to push up on the little white tab in the center of the bottom of the white wiring harness. it looks like you push up this little tab, and that allows the harness to come right out. unfortunately, i cant get this little tab in the center to bend in enough to slip the harness out of the connector.... helppp! am i doing it wrong??? sorry for my bad description, it's hard to describeee

thank you, ive seen that... but for the description of the part im stuck at, all it says is,

"With the radio pulled out a few inches, remove the two plugs that go into the climate controls. Then you will be able to pull the radio out further"

not very descriptive... so, does someone have any more detailed advice on how to remove the center harness? why is it so hard for me? it seems like all the DIY's i read just breeze right past this step...

well, it's not easy... i had to get someone to hold the unit out as much as possible for me to be able to wedge my hands in as far back as i could in order to get the harnesses off. it's tight back there...

wow, i just wrote a long review and lost it all when my IE froze up... damnit...

anyway, here's a condensed version of what i was gonna say:

I just finished doing the install, and let me tell you, it is AWESOME. The sound quality is as good as it gets, it keeps my ipod charged, and its functionality is just as its described. So far, it works flawlessly, and im already in love with it. After i finished the install, i was sitting in my car in the garage for a good thirty minutes just playing with it and appreciating how much better and easier it is than my old FM transmitter. I recommend you all buy one of these...

As for the installation, i believe that anyone moderately adept at following instructions can do it themselves. I had two illustrated DIY guides to help me along, and most of it was self-explanatory anyway. The trickiest part was finding the hidden bolt, but even that wasn't so hard with the photos that other members have posted of its location.

So, overall, I think it's an absolutely great unit, especially for the price. Thank you so much for providing this tool to us, falcontx. We all appreciate the time and effort you've put into developing it, and I hope you make a fat profit from it.

ugh... it was working flawlessly for a while, but now i have an issue

falcontx: now, when my ipod is plugged into the unit and playing, i can hear music. the problem is, the head unit is stuck on EX8:88, and does not "recognize" that the iPod is attached, and instead is just playing music as if it were coming in from the headphone aux cable. therefore, i cant control my ipod using the car's buttons. I tried un-plugging and re-plugging my ipod, ive tried resetting my ipod, ive taken out the 15A "room" fuse (i think that provides power to the stereo), and ive tried power-cycling my car. Nothing i do will get it to recognize the ipod when i attach it.... helpp!!!

btw: i have the ipod+1/8 inch connector audiolink, a 30 gb 5th gen ipod video, and my 05 RX8 has a firmware about 9.55 or whatever the threshold was...

kind of... some times...

Usually it shows EX1:66, which means it is playing from the iPod and the IPod can be controlled by the user, as well as by the steering wheel buttons. note that the playtime shown on the car's LCD is not accurate...

but, by pressing disc up or down, you can put it into playlist mode. Then it shows EX[#]:[$$], where # is the playlist number (2-6 corresponds the playlists 1-5 in your ipod, alphabetical from the top) and $$ is the track you're playing in that playlist. In this mode, the car's LCD timer is accurate. note that in this "playlist" mode, though you can use the steering wheel and console buttons still, you cannot use your iPod's buttons, and all the iPod shows is "do not disconnect." if you want to go back to normal mode, all you have to do is press disc up or down until you get back to EX1. Think about it as EX being an external 6 cd changer, but really the first "CD" is ipod control, and the next 5 "CDs" are your first five playlists

wow, I had the exact same issue with mine. Worked great the first, but then it got stuck without playlist mode. they're sending out a replacement for me. hopefully, it comes in soon.

have you noticed that when you play without steering wheel control & with the ipod connector, the sound is unbalanced (left is louder than right)? when I play through the 1/8 in. jack, the sound is balanced.

Got the replacement tonight and it works great. I'm going to put electrical tape over the 1/8 in jack just to be safe this time.
