Instead of the ceiling, I have mine stuck to the back of the glovebox (not the back of the inside, but the outside with the cord running up and over into the box) with just regular 3M double sided tape and it's been stuck for well over a year now. I did have to replace the AudioLink once under warranty and it came off with just a little tug, so it's definitely not permanent. I really like this setup because the unit takes up no space in the glovebox.

Okay I have a question.....my girlfriend said I could use her iPod video to do this so I selected iPod video when I ordered.....I've never used an iPod video for the TV out function. The audio link unit came with a cable that has 3 connectors, the iPod connector, a headphone jack connector and a yellow video out connector. My question is, where/what the hell do you plug in the headphone jack and video out connector too????

The 1/8" line input can be used to input audio from any number of different devices. It's not used if you are only using an iPod. The RCA video output is used to output the video from your iPod onto an external monitor, if you have one.

Is manufacturer of audiolink currently working on a solution to make it work with 9.81 and 10.01 firmware?

If anyone needs a Mini Din extension Cable M/F that is 6 Feet long let me know. I ordered a bunch of them in bulk and can have them shipped anywhere in Canada or America for really cheap.

(used to extend the audio link so you can mount the ipod in your secret compartment.)

Sansa anyone?

Rookie here again...

Has anyone used this little baby with a Sansa e200 series? Sounds ideal. It would use the USB port I'm guessing. I've been getting along with my FM transmitter up to now. I'd love a hard-wired option. Is THIS the Holy Grail???

As said in the rest of the thread, if your sansa can show up in windows as an external hard drive without any drivers, then it will work with the audio link. However, you have to put the music into folders called CD01, CD02, CD03... etc.

I have a question or two, but first, my apologies if already answered previously, but 31 pages in this thread makes it very difficult to find the answers (Plus I am dyslexic, joy!).

Anyway:

Will th iPod kit work with my 6 CD changer unit (stock) that came in my 2005 Shinka?

I am considering trying out the USB hard drive kit, if it is still available. Is it?

Thanks in advance.

finally installed my audio link this weekend. Good lord this is the worst car I have worked on for audio installations.

When putting it back together I wondered, should I put the 10mm screw behind the steering wheel back? No, I left it out and put it in the trunk, so the next time I go and open up the radio to do something or move my audiolink or whatever, I will at least have 1/3 of the job done.

The adaptor works great. You can put songs in subfolders of the CD01, 02 folders, so that everything doesn't have to be lumped into one directory.
I mounted underneath the steering wheel where the metal cover is, and then brought the usb cable to the bottom of the steering wheel just above the cover. So now it's pretty well hidden but easy for me to access. No one would know it was there unless they looked for it.

I bought the audiolink for my new 6th gen Ipod Classic and have run into issues getting it to work. it charges the ipod, but I can't get it to sync to the radio. The folks at Revolution are fedexing me a updated unit, and have been great with trying to help me figure out the issue.

My only concern is that I didn't plug the connector into the right spot in the back of the headunit. I felt around in the upper left area, and plugged the audiolink connector into the spot. It seemed to fit fine, but I wasn't able to visually see it.

I assume if the unit charges the ipod I must have the right port and I just need updated firmware correct?

I just installed mine today and had the exact same problem. Pretty frustrating. You had to have plugged it in right. Your firmware has to be 9.55 or higher. What did they suggest was wrong?

they suggested that I needed a new firmware upgrade for the audiolink device. My radio firmware is 9.55.

that's good to know. thanks!

on a side note: i took out the hard wired sirius satellite radio that came with it. can't believe how much weight that thing added to the car: around 5 lbs (box plus all wirings). dunno if i'd be able to sell it since i cut the sirius antenna. i was so pissed that the magnet antenna did some major scratches on the paint.

I noticed on RPM's website, it ask what "ipod type". Don't all the ipods have the same connector? I never owned an ipod, but was wondering what will happen if I use ipods other than what I specify on the order page.
