I thought I read someplace you were applying for a CARB cert.

Is that true?
I dont think this would be the case as the electronics of the car run off of the alternator once it is running. The only downside i see would be the expense of longer cables and more chance of corrosion and wear down the road unless the were properly secured all the way to the engine bay.

well i assume the number's aroudn 290 rwhp?
Will the stock drivetrain and fuel system be able to handle this power without upgrade?
The Greddy kit I'm pretty sure the stock can handle.
Also, what's your solution to ecu?

I know this has been discussed in pieces all over the place, but SSR could you clarify what engine management, if any, the kit comes with? If none and the stock ECU is used, how could it possibly keep up with the demands of this kit without at least a reflash? Thanks. Beautiful kit too, by the way! :D

I hope that you guys are applying for a CARB cert. because that’s one of the main reasons why I haven’t bought a turbo for the car because all of the turbo kits aren't CARB cert.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for CARB certification from any of these FI vendors. Even if they were interested in being CARB certified they would likely wait several years to apply.

Engine management is an OPTION (1300$ i think). Or you can go your own route emanage, another piggyback or standalone. It cant run on the stock ecu.

Yes I've seen that. I think the $1300 option is the Rick Shaw ECU. But what I don't get is that if this really doesn't come with any form of engine management, and will not run unless you go out and spend another $500++, then how can it be sold as a "complete kit?" I think this needs to be clarified, or a lot of people will buy it then return it.

SSR?

Omi -- I think it is pretty clear. The "kit" doesn't include engine management and you can't run it without (well you probably could but I wouldn't want to see the results ). They are selling the EMS system seperately (Ric Shaw or whatever acronym it is called now) or they are tuning a map to use an emanage unit.

What it really comes down to IMO is a seemingly well designed unit costing DOUBLE the GReddy and producing maybe 10% or so more HP. What the powerband looks like, driveability, etc. I don't know. I do know that the GReddy kit produces a very driveable vehicle with plenty of whp for 99% of us (yes I know everyone always wants MORE hp) -- but honestly I am not sure I really want more than I have right now -- my 8 is a rocket, the low end boost is zero lag instant on and honestly on the verge of being downright scary to control at times under full acceleration. With DSC off I can totally lose the rear in 3rd gear hitting the accelerator.

Yeah, I know. I'm kinda waiting... but trying to help everyone here sort things out. I think the SSR is a georgeous and definitely a top quality kit - looks ready for show - but if its sold w/o engine management that needs to be made really clear to folks. We'll have to see which one I wind up with.
