1/4mi in 4.7 seconds - at 93mph is this possible
Ok so I was searching around on google for turbo RX-8 0-60 times, and somehow I came across this:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3043289
Basically it says:
1/4 Mile in 9.1 sec @ 93 mph
0-60 in 4.7 sec
Correct me if I'm wrong, but going 93mph for 9.1 seconds seems like you wouldn't even have gone a quarter mile.
Now take into consideration the 0-60 claim of 4.7 seconds...
That means 1 mile per minute at most (assuming 0-60 actually happened in 0 seconds.. I don't want to get into depth of the speeds so I'm going to use an easy 60) gets you 0.0166 miles per second.
0.0166 miles per second * 4.7 seconds = 0.0783 miles traveled
Now factor in the 9.1 second time MINUS the 4.7 seconds getting to 60mph, that gives us 4.4 seconds to go from 60mph to 93mph.
Again, lets assume the max speed of 93mph:
93 miles per hour / 60 minutes (1 hr) = 1.55 miles per minute
1.55 miles per minute / 60 seconds = 0.02583 miles per second
0.02583 miles per second * 4.4 seconds remaining = 0.113652 miles traveled
Adding these up, we get a mere 0.191952 miles traveled in the 9.1 seconds claimed, which is definitely not 1/4 mi.
Furthermore, even if we did a calcuation assuming constant 93mph speed:
0.02583 miles per second * 9.1 seconds claimed = 0.235 miles traveled
Result:
1/4mi = 0.25 miles
0.235miles in 9.1 seconds != 1/4mi, so the 9.1 seconds is wrong even if he were traveling at 93mph from start to finish
The only explanation I can come up with for his claimed times:
A) His 0-60 time is actually from a "rolling stop", and he was already moving. This makes his time incorrect innately.
B) His 0-60 time is real and his car simply jumps into hyperspeed, gets to 120mph+ and then he hits the governor kicking him down as he brakes to 93mph ( ) and makes his 1/4mi in 9.1 seconds
C) He just completely fabricated the times altogether and tried to make it look real to get some sort of "internet cred"
Anyone have any other ideas or thoughts? Maybe I'm missing something really simple here, but the basic math tells me it's just not possible with his claimed times.

No that is not possible. He probably his mistakenly put the 1/4 miles where it should be 0-100. Even to get to the high 10's you are looking at a trap speed in the 130's, so 93 mph at the end of the 1/4 miles is closer to a 15 second 1/4 mile, not 9 seconds.

That would make sense because the numbers I did were assuming a constant 60mph, then a constant 93mph because I didn't want to make it complicated. So the 0.19mi in 9.1 seconds could easily become 0.125mi (1/8mi) if you consider the time it takes to get up to 60mph and 93mph, respectively. This would give him high 14's/low 15's for the 1/4mi, which is believable as the stock MT RX-8 can do mid 15's low 16's.

you actually believed someone's cardomain quarter mile time?
"this is my new G-Ride the velocity mica red 8 super fast and super clean you know ill be trickin it out and youll see me in Super Street or HIN in the near future so look out for you boy BIG Daddy Lopez " That's the into. The car is a stock Rx-8 with wheels (which look to be quite heavy). He said he had 300 hp.
His actual numbers:
175 whp
6.0 0-60
15.0 quarter mile, give or take.
The only thing he got right was that with that sub box in the back, it probably does weight about 3200 lbs. Cardomain is auto-myspace.

In modified magazine's shootout for this months issue their was an nsx that ran a really fast 1/4 mile but lost controll of the car at the very end, almost crashed and crossed the line at like 93 MPH but still ran like 11 seconds.
But that's almost certainly not likely the case. Actually this is kind of a dumb thread so I'm ashamed its my first post.

Wow...that's complete BS. No way an 8 is so fast that it could pull off a "sub-light speed" run and wind up coasting in at the end. Only way that's happening is with some crazy powerplant.
