20b engine

ok so i've heard the term 20b engine tossed around and with the engine in the 3 rotor topic claimed 600+ hp.

my quesiton: is the engine in that topic the 20B production engine or the racing engine
discussed on this site link

is the 20b on this site the one that will enable 600hp+? or is it a production line engine discussed on the previous site?link

is there even a difference in the two?

you can get 600hp on a bone-stock j-spec 20b...conservatively.

there are TONS of differences between the production and the racing engines. here a few of the more important ones:

production has side ports, race has peripheral ports.
p has exhaust restrictors to knock down the noise, race doesn't
p had twins stock, race was n/a
6500 rpm vs 8500+

lots of other little differences, including the induction and exhaust systems, etc etc...

The production 20B and the 13G (Race motor) are almost completely different. They don't even share the same accentric shafts.

That should read 'eccentric'. I guess I was tired.

What the hell is your problem calling it a "crankshaft"? Do you know anything about rotary engines? I bet you've never even rebuilt or ported one before.

Practically you can reach 600 Hp from a 20b without no internal modification. With just 17 Psi of boost without no porting work.

Yes my engines is a prodution engine not a race engine, My only internals mods are Exhaust overlap and porting work at the side housings and exhaust ports at housing. And a good set of apex seals "Kirbee" therare the only mods the rest of the engine is a prodution engine "Stock" Now i'm Running with 700RWP as Daily drive car.

Cheers

It's cheaper to buy a whole cosmo from japan and import it to canada.. have someone chop it and sell the parts you don't need. You can grab a whole comso ( some with less than 30K KM ) for less than $8,000 US delivered to your ( or your friends ) door in canada. The leftover parts, like new twin turbos and a bunch of other stuff will get you a couple grand.

do you get any lean spikes with partial throttle w/ interceptor? just curious.

was also wondering if u found the power deliverable on tracks.

i just have many questions w/o answers

but one day, i shall have some answers!! thanks.
The cars handles like a stock one Now i'm running a haltch ecu E11V2 , I,ve some internals mod to the tranny, the rear axles are a 52MM. ones and the frame are relative stock, i'm no have lean spikes the cars run like stock with a AFR's of 10.5 on booost And 13.8 on vac. On the tracks there're another story it is so powerful at track with time slips of 10.4 @ 144 MPH, The only problem that i found is the lower trailings arms with slick it tend to bends on hard lauch ...

just a few quesitons if you don't mind:
how's the mpg? could you take it to a technical track or a high speed flowing track & put the power down without sweating your *****? say at ~350-400whp.

i'm mostly curious about the corner balance of the car after the 20b install. if the 20b engine is around 30lbs heavier with the turbo, perhaps battery relocation to the trunk can offset the heavier front, just like what you've done.

i just don't wanna spend 20k++ for installation & have it understeer or powerslide all over the track.

thanks rgonza.
If you are looking to do allot of autocross .. you will be better of with a 20b NA .. IT will perform allot better for you on the track . With the right set up you will be able to get 320- 380hp to the wheals .. Or If you are only looking to make 300-450hp . You can always get a 13b cosmso same weight and cheaper route ..
Hope that answers some of your questions .
