which is the hose for the venturi?
Fuel return needs to flow into the hose for the venturi.....otherwise you will get no transfer.
Why would you leave the fuel filter in there? Just take it out...and put a screen pickup tube in there...it has to be in close proximity to the bottom of the tank or it won't pickup fuel when low...you need to rethink the pickup thing...or drive with 1/2 tank all the time

ah I see... the area is huge though. i just want it to be flat... besides that looks quite expensive. belt sander i'll be borrowing will be free. and for gasket, i'll be using mazda gasket and some squeeze on gasket for the coarse grooves left by sanding.
as for coating, i'll probably end up ceramic coating everything later. i just can't afford them right now.

that example was a fancy CNC milling center, most shops would have a simpler setup. it shouldn't be that expensive talk to a few machinists and you will probably find one that will help you out.

this is joel's setup. return is going to the original fuel send line. and he drilled two holes for the fuel send line.
i'm guessing he's picking up the fuel from the fuel canister directly outside of the filter chamber. am i correct?

joel, did you leave the stock oem pump in there pumping directly into the stock fuel canister? then have two external pumps suck fuel from the stock fuel canister directly?

You have another picture of the can without the filter and pump ....
The venturi is attached to the other end of the line that goes to the passenger side.....lets try it in reverse
You can't just dump the return into the can or it won't work
Also...are you using the OEM in can fuel filter?? Can't see that taking the flow that you need
You will need the piickups designed so they are very near the bottom of the cup when the lid is closed as well

mm okay. so return back into the filter canister.
joel also mentioned that i need to attach the pump outputs from the canisters as well.
so i'm going to use the original send line for return back into the filter canister.
i'm also going to somehow attach AN-10 output from the canister directly.
as for using the oem pump, could I just punch some holes on the bottom of the canister? or do i need the oem pump? looks like if i stick the oem pump in there, that'll always be the bottle neck with buffer amount being limited to the small canister size.
and how would I take that oem filter out? i want to take it out, but only way I see this being possible is if i cut the bottom out from the canister.

remember what used to be your return line (OEM return line) now is going to be your breather line. You need to conect it to your intake ( outside the throttle) make sure you put a check valve so that no boost goes in your tank

yea the oem canister. in the original rx8, the oem canister used to receive fuel with the oem fuel pump... but without it, how is it getting fuel?
if i could just see a photo of your modified oem canister
I want to know how you attached the fittings... everything's pretty tight, and how that filter canister is receiving fuel from the tank.

Man I wish I met you before.. You would have your car running long time ago.. OH I forgot to tell you I opened a business (officially). We are now making engine swaps (with ruff racing Florida).

it gets fuel from the bottom. If you check the assembly you will notice that the oem pump sucked fuel from the existing( in the canister) not from the tank.. That is the whole purpose of the canister. It has a valve in the bottom that lets fuel in the can but not out... Check for your self. Thats the only reason mne is working. And has worked and will continue to do so... If you are getting an external canister then that is a different ball game. You could use the oem pump to fill that one up...

no, its a little more complicated than that. I will try to take my assembly out again and post spome pics... you need specifick inserts ( fittings) and aluminum lines to go to the bottom of the canister.
