The exhaust has toned down acutally since the turbo, the turbo acutally works as a little bit of a silencer in this case. its sounds perfect, i still runnin a lil on the rich side so im backfreing but im gonna talk to bennt at greddy for the new map

Did you use the Walbro kit for the RX-7 -- or did you just use the universal kit? I tried to order one yesterday but they don't have a kit for the RX-8 yet and didn't know if hte RX-7 kit would work.
Are you using the stock injectors or did you upgrade those also?

So, hmmm... lets say Mazda's 238 BHP number is correct (possible, but...) Anyway, taking an average of RWHP people have dyno'd at, say, 185 WHP, that's a 22% drivetrain loss. So... 268 WHP + 22% = ~327 BHP. Not too shabby, I'd say!
Actually... if the Mazda's 238BHP number is correct with 185RWHP and 22.3% drivetrain losses, then 268RWHP will equate to about 345HP (268/0.777) at the crank!! Just doing my part to get us excited even more!

I think you guys are being a little too optimistic.
1) The RX8 does not have 238 hp stock. The 180 whp is not close to what a
238 hp car should be putting out. We are probably making closer to 220
hp. The S2000 is 240 hp & it dynoes low to mid 200's.
2) Porsches (996) & M3's dyno around the 260's, so you are really looking
around 320-330 hp at high 260's whp. Still pretty damn good.

Those who think the RX8 really DOES lose 40-50hp thru the drivetrain are kidding themselves.

Correct me if I'am wrong, but I believe what is trying to be said is that maybe the 238Hp rating of the RX8 is wrong. If you figure about a 20% loss thru the drivetrain and everyone seems to be getting around 180 whp for a stock RX8, that would realistically put the rated hp of the RX8 at around 228hp .

110% sure the car is stock.
Honda - Under rates HP
Mazda - Over rates HP

That was uncorrected, on a nice, cold, foggy day, when most of the RX-8s were doing 185rwhp. Corrected, it was 210rwhp. Stock '04 and '05 S2000s typically dyno at 205-210 corrected; pre-'04 S2000s typically get around 195.
So, as dmp said, it is likely that Honda significanly under-reports the new S2000, and it is likely that Mazda is optimistic on the RX-8

If you look at a 18% driveline loss, the 205 whp of the S2000 would = 250-255 hp at the crank. The 195 whp for a pre-04' S2000 = 238 hp (right in line with claimed 240 hp). For our cars the 185 whp = 225-226 hp. That seems in line with what many of us have surmised. The european spec of 228 hp may be a bit more realistic than the stated 238 hp.
Also wasn't this the day that an RX8 put out 206 whp ? In that case it may very well be that the dyno was showing optimistic #'s for everybody.

Omi,
You are a very bright guy, you were at Racing beat... did you see the engine dyno for the 8? It was 208-212 period. That's it. I have no idea why people continue to think this engine makes any more power than that. Mazda did a great job with the drivetrain on this car. Anyways let me do the math with those numbers
lets be optomistic
182 (close to avg dyno for rx8) / 212 = ~86% or 14% loss
so
268 * 1.14 = 305.52 which is WAY more in line with what 7lbs of boost should be making over the stock 212.
I am not trying to insult Omi or anyone else, I am just asking the people here to get realistic. You bought a car with 212Hp at the crank... not 228 not 238. The engine dyno doesn't lie, Mazda does... emprically if you look at the evidence, there are very few companies that lie about HP numbers more than mazda. I do however believe that a well tuned 13B-MSP will make ~240 at the crank, just not hte way that mazda sells it to you.
Bleh...
