I do know one thing though the 33k i payed for my car should have bought more then 168 whp stock.

There are no free lunches. All I'm saying is be consistent. I'm not sure if you are trying to justify buying a 350Z, or unloading your RX8, but you #'s are inflated for the 350Z (& costs minimized), whereas you inflate the cost of the FI for the RX8, & minimize the #'s. 350Z is a good car, but it's not the world beater/bulletproof car you make it sound like.
If you don't want to be on the site, then don't be on the site, just don't try to BS your way through here & expect not to get called out on it. Your 168 whp is absolutely plausible, but your other #'s are all way off.

You blowing out 2 transmissions means nothing (well, not to you I'm sure...I know I'd be pissed if it were me too). I would like to see some indication of percentage of car's that have had their tranny replaced or fixed, not sure if that data is available anywhere but internally to Mazda. I know I've been expecting to see a few go down with the increased number of people adding FI but I really haven't.
I remember plenty of friction on the rx7 boards! What I didn't see so much of was people who felt the need to denigrate the cars that most all of the members owned. You complain about defensive posters, by nature defense is a reaction to an attack. At least you had the car and ultimately didn't like it...I've seen numerous people come in here and stir up the pot who have no connection to the vehicle whatsoever. I'm not sure what they gain by doing this, but it certainly puts people in a more defensive mindset.
Ultimately, the broader the target customer base, the more compromises will become necessary. The 8 is obvioulsy not a dragster. I wouldn't call it slow by any stretch, but there are certainly cars that are quite a bit faster in a straight line, and there are cars that can easily be made faster more easily than the 8 can. If you bought the car and were not aware of that, or didn't want a car that made compromises in order to provide a back seat, superior handling and a reasonable price then yeah, you bought the wrong car. There's really no need to trash it...it just didn't meet your needs. Trust me, your Maxima company car wouldn't meet mine either.

Im not trashing the 8 im really not.Ive owned worse"2 mustangs and 1 vette"but compared to other cars it in this market today it falls somewhat short. In all fairness the rotary r&d money spent probly accounts for 1% of r&d on a piston engine.

Locally...1 in 4 twin turbo greedy installs on the Z results in a destroyed shortblock. I can go and snag a bunch of photos on google...but I'm sure your capable of using it. Toothpick rods + bad bearings +boost = failure.
All the smart Z owners are building up the bottom end to handle the PSI...as the engine sees failure with as little as 7 psi boost.
As such, anyone considering FI on the Z or G35 (Or Mustang 2005 GT for that matter), should put money on the side to possibly replace the engine if said failures occur.
Even the blind can find answers on the internet...Go to
http://www.my350z.com
Click on search and type "stock rods"
If your too lazy to search...just click on this UOA thread. Fellow installs a Twin turbo, makes it less then a month before the engine throws a rod.

And they 05s internals have been beefed a bit.Tune a turbo 350z to 60 to 70 more hp and you would never have a problem.I think thats the most hp increase ive seen in fi 8s.And one thing to consider is there are probly 10 times the amount of 350s with fi then 8s.Side seals will be flying soon.
#86
I saw the anniversy (300 bhp model) had some internals get buffed up. What exactly did they do? Did they just revise the bearings into some trimetals? Or did they actually replace bottom end components? If so, which components did they go with?
#87
Unless you're psychic that's a pretty poor reason to badmouth the 8. Can we at least wait until the bad stuff actually happens before we slam Mazda for it?
