One thing to consider with the lotek pod is unless you attach the hoods that come with the gauges (which I don't care for personally) the gauges can be hard to read at times because of the sunlight and the angle of the gauges.

Hmm I've never noticed this, not even in the slightest.... but I don't have the wheel time you do......

Oh It was mixed with Redline water wetter. i wasn't sure what FL-22 was exactly honestly, i just know the bottle says do not mix. Why do you think there is so much rust in only 30,000 miles?
Also, check out the rear exhaust port, look at the difference from the others.

That is why you have to change the coolant constantly.
It is "normal" to some degree for one rotor to run at a different temperature than the other.
It just looks like partial combustion in that chamber - a bad plug or coil will do that.

FL22 is just Ford's long-life mixture of ethylene glycol, water, diethylene glycol and potassium hydroxide mix. Its the same as any other long-life coolant.
The Renesis is half iron. It is going to produce rust.
That is why you have to change the coolant constantly.
Was this motor failing at all?
It is "normal" to some degree for one rotor to run at a different temperature than the other.

Ah that makes sense about being half iron, the weird part is that in the 30,000 miles the coolant was changed three times with the block drained each time.
The motor did not fail completely, I had coolant in my oil (verified by blackstone) and coolant in the rear housing so it was fouling my plugs and causing misfires. The motor would misfire and run like **** at start up until the engine warmed up. Pineapple racing is going to tear it apart and send me pictures but i am not having that motor rebuilt. My new motor is done already, I am just waiting for it.

Oh, and one update. The local turbo rebuilder is awesome but was not really into upgrading the Greddy after getting it so I decided to go with AMR performance since I am pretty dead set on at least a water cooled center section. They are very reputable and say that they can certainly do some upgrades to make the turbo more reliable and possibly flow better. Their prices are great too, I will keep you updated once I have some details.

It should be here in a week or so at the latest depending on the shipping company but I am in no hurry since I still have some thing to get before the build is complete. Text me when you get back, maybe we can have an initial fire up BBQ

Funny Mazda recommends 10 Years (120,000 miles) before a Coolant Change with Long Life FL-22 in the RX-8..
In-fact FL-22 was used FROM...May 13th, 2005 production...ONWARDS...

So 9K where are the Pinapples???...

I'm running about 30% coolant, 70% distilled with watterwetter, should I also be concerned with rust? I normally change the coolant every year. I don't want to see rust!

I was just running straight distilled and water wetter for a while. Then distilled water and coolant at a 70/30 ratio, and then straight FL-22 towards the end.

im using the regular greddy inter cooler and i have no problems at all. cools down and gives me enough air. the white rx8 is pretty nice i was reading about it in one of the mags only putting down 290whp his inter cooler is def a good idea or u can do pick one up and have ur pipes cut to fit it so it lays in front. look into that u can do it yourself to

im using the regular greddy inter cooler and i have no problems at all. cools down and gives me enough air. the white rx8 is pretty nice i was reading about it in one of the mags only putting down 290whp his inter cooler is def a good idea or u can do pick one up and have ur pipes cut to fit it so it lays in front. look into that u can do it yourself to

lessens learned from last week during the engine removal .....
#1. Keep the engine chains short
#2. Take off the front bumper
#3. Six sided drivers are your friend
#4. Life was much better working with another person, I dont know how 9k got as far as he did with out a hand from another person
