Okay guys, just came in from the garage trying some things out. It looks like I am going to have to ditch my 28" Fluidyne oil cooler that is mounted in the space needed to mount the Greddy intercooler
It's in the way of the intake setup and even if I v mount the intercooler or try to be creative it still almost completely blocks the radiator. I could run the water/air intercooler setup easily but that would add complexity to the system that I am just not ready to do right now with everything else going on and plus funds are getting tight.
So......I am thinking of ditching the cooler for two stockish size aftermarket coolers. I still have the drivers side stock oil cooler location so I can put one there and then put one below and behind the intercooler or try a thick single cooler in the drivers side oil cooler location.

Well, it's a good thing you took a look at that.. it seems obvious, but I didn't think about how that oil cooler might affect things.
It sounds like what you're planning is the best for now. It will at least get things moving for now. If you aren't satisfied with how it's set up, you can always change it up a bit once you've had more time to plan it out and have the funds to do what you want.

I'm not sure if that would be too big to fit as a side mount on the 8, but I definitely wonder how one of those would hold up compared to the greddy... it's probably a stupid and ridiculous thought, but it would definitely be interesting if it could work. It wouldn't be worth it if you needed to run dual SMIC, though.

I found a couple of cooler that mimic the stock oil cooler is size so I may go wit them. I also have the driver side stock cooler but the fins are pretty beat up.
Does anyone know if the thermostats for the stock coolers are in each unit or just in the passenger side unit?

Okay, Took these of the stock drivers side cooler I had here. I am not sure how the thermostat bolt works, it doesn't appear to block off anything at all in terms of flow and it supposedly opens at 195F but I put it in boiling water and it didn't do anything, I have no idea how it works.

I am pretty sure I can find a bolt short enough to replace the thermostat bolt to block that end off and then just run this cooler inline with a second cooler and just use the oil thermostat I was already using with the 28" Fluidyne cooler. Or I could put a fitting on the end that the thermostat bolt goes into and run to the second cooler from there and block off the front right port with a screw in plug.
But which side do you think should be the feed from the motor and and which side should run to feed the second cooler? I am thinking the left side is feed from the motor and the right side should go to the second cooler.

Okay, don't laugh at my paint skills. Picture the second cooler laying flat with a hole cut out of my aluminum under tray so air can go into it. I realize this is not optimal in terms of flow but Pettit's cool pak works similarly I think.

Just had a crazy thought, an expensive crazy thought but I wanted to share.
The auto rx8 radiator has a built in trans cooler, the BHR Auto radiator has an upgraded trans portion in it, as well as an upgraded radiator.
Potentially you could use that auto trans cooler as your secondary oil cooler.
Just a thought I know you are strapped for cash and you just replaced your radiator, just wanted to toss the idea around.

Hmmm, I have my old OEM style Koyo in the garage that has the ports for the auto as well.

Instead of mounting the second cooler flat, stand it up on side on either side and try and duct it.

That is pretty much what I decided. But, I can't seem to find a cooler that fits in the stock oil cooler location that is better, they all seem to be 2" thick, same row count for the size, etc.

Yeah I went ahead and decided to use the stock drivers side cooler.
I got these fitting from my favorite hose shop and I will plumb my existing lines into them and add a secondary cooler for extra security. I was not able to find a plug for the thermostat bolt because it some weird thread and diameter but I plan on taking it apart or cutting it and just using the bolt part as a plug.
