Hey Ash--The R3 does look like the ecu may be/ is bad--i have sourced another one and it is going to the dealer on Monday. I finally got the obd2 port to working. I actually had a 5 month old battery that went bad that caused a lot of funny stuff while I was trying to figure this out.
I am still wondering if a voltage spike caused the security system to do a lock out. Since I dont have 2 keys, it makes it more difficult. I have sourced another ecu so if it is--then thats covered
I sure have learned a lot while dealing with this--much thanks to you for all your help.
Paul at mazmart liked the condition of my used engine rotors when he tore mine down. I was using water meth on that one during high loads. It works.

Anaerobic sealant will work better than Hylomar.
Once it sets up, that seal is going nowhere.
Hylomar's main draw is that it doesn't harden, which is not really what you want to happen on the "o" rings.
Permatex's anaerobic red stuff has the same sealing strength and temperature resistance as their Hylomar brand, but is "permanent".
Since you can't reuse the "o" rings, I'd think that permanent wouldn't be particularly discouraging to an engine rebuilder! lol

that might be the reason why the Hylomar we can buy now is so sticky/tacky and not watery anymore. It's good/bad.
the FC Engine I just teared down has some Silicone or whatever crap with the seal. it's such a mess and it's not removable with Acetone (or I didn't wipe enough), I hate that

while we are all waiting for 9k's engine to come back to life ...
Something for you guys to "see" ...
My FC's Engine. Those black stuff all over is NOT burn marks/whatever, it's actually silicone. it's f-king everywhere for some reason. Special Thx to whoever build this crap.
This was a rebuild from like about 5-6 yrs ago? f- outa here. I love these Black o-rings that Mazda said don't use it. see ?

Well I made progress today but I also sent the turbo back to AMR to get clocked correctly so the build will be delayed another week or so at least. I tried clocking it but it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to muck it up.
But I did get a bunch of parts cleaned and my oil coolers/intercooler configuration situated.

I hurt my back last weekend and have been down for the count. Luckily we do physical rehab at the clinics I manage so therapy has helped me recover quickly. I am not 100% but I am A LOT better. I was on relax duty all weekend so I should be good to go by next weekend after a few more treatment sessions this week.
Oh, and I need intercooler brackets and a turbo
