AEM CAI on Pettit Supercharger?
#27
Yours lies on the under tray? I was reading through the super long SC thread and I saw some people had tried mounting them there to stop blocking the airflow to radiator. Mine are situated right in front of the radiator like a traditional A2A turbo IC setup.

Oh you can do that? Bennett Performance's web site had them pictured lying flat side-by-side on the undertray. You're talking about the slim black ones right? Are yours mounted like, flush against your normal radiator? Do you think that's a better approach? Does the radiator fans actively pulling air through them help to increase cooling effectiveness, or as you suggested, does it just block airflow to the radiator?

Personally I think it blocks airflow. I typically have higher coolant temps than NA cars. I also rode in a turbo 8 who had a A2A IC in the same position and his temps were higher than mine.
I think thats why people that were tracking the SC 8s like Oldragger were looking at mounting it low and flush.
Lots of people tried different ideas with these SC kits. Since it wasn't mass produced, there is a lot of trial by error with them. I don't think anyone can say 100% their setup is the right way. I would def recommend trying the setup that you have and get as many logging devices as possible. Then make ONE upgrade at a time and monitor it for a bit and then move onto the next. If it works, I would leave it alone. A respected rotary shop mechanic told me when I bought the car to not change a thing. It was working flawless and he said all of my ideas for improvement would just screw it up long term. I got it faster and "better" but I dont know if I sacrificed reliability and driveability along the way. Just my 2 cents.

been a while
glad to see there are still pettit SC cars running out there.
Mine still is also--but it is a dedicated track car with carbon fiber roof etc etc etc. Friend of mine has it now.
On the air filter/ Boy did I ever play with that.
The trick to this setup that worked for me was not so much the air being delivered to the maf as it was the air being delivered to the ports! Measure the temp of your air post SC
But yes I did place the cone filter outside the engine bay and that did help a little with low speed around town driving. But what worked better was replacing the pettit water cooler with one that had a lot more surface area and much simpler plumbing. Still in the end--since I was tracking a fair amount--I ended up with a water meth injection system. Didn't need it for the street--but on track it was soooo valuable in controlling temps/preventing det. Nothing else would do it.

best emissions legal header I've seen for the RX8 (and I've pretty much seen them all, street & race) and would be a good addition for an SC motor, though a bit pricey
2" primaries, 3" outlet, merge transition is pretty decent, excellent fabrication overall
??????? ??????? 50 ?RX8? - LEG MOTOR SPORT???????
some comparison pics here:
?????3???????????????LEG??????????? | ??? RX-8 - ????
Just received one for modifying it into a prototype race header, but frankly it's done well enough that for the average person not going full rotard for racing purposes like absolute minimum weight, deleting emissions, etc. that its fine right out of the box ...
Edit: this is different from their original header that they still also sell, don't order the wrong one!

Sorry for the hijack OP but hey 200!!
Sold the zo6... Ls7 engine is not as trustworthy as some may think... Besides ...too much power🙂
Had my first grandchild so now running a Porsche macan s. Very very sweet platform with basically the Panamera engine .
Kind of looking for another rx8....... To play with. All these years I still cannot find a better chassis
