Likely going to use the RX8Performance Mount for the REW...looks like a great piece

...and it will save a lot of fiddling around. Only thing I haven't decided is what I am going to use for a transmission...so it will depend I guess

Looking to run it on the track in the 425-450 range..it should be bulletproof at that power level and stand up to the beating it deserves Gotta keep up with the damn GT3's somehow

Rx8 5-speed is similar to the FD3 trans, a bit pricey new thru motorsports

Other than the S2 trans everything is pretty expensive, Ebb posted up a US trans shop that does some serious race modifications to the S1 trans for $6k

IIRC TitaniumTT (from the rotarycarclub forums)had a 8 trans on his Fc with around 450 and it was fine. I could be off, but I don't think so

I think I might try it..I have a bunch of spare transmissions and that way as long as things don't break I'm good ...might have to play with the final drive gear ratio..but that's easier than building new drive shafts if I don't need too

Greg......this is getting off topic...get some Pictures up here ...we are getting bored

Its not a dedicated track car. The S1 trans is a well documented issue on dedicated NA track cars. Sticky tires and hard shifts combined with high power will take a toll. Babying the shifts will only delay the inevitable. A properly adjusted Race Roots synchro saver kit (really a shifter throw stop kit) is probably the best thing you can do for an S1 trans. There are a few internal parts tweaks that can help, but any serious RX8 racers have swapped to the S2 trans if permitted to by the rules despite the weight penalty

Pretty sure the 5 speed is a bolt in only mod. While the main box is the Fd3 trans it has the Rx8 tail housing and output shaft design. There is a thread on the forum detailing this. Ulyimately the gearing spread with the right rear gear ratio is better suited for the wider powerband of a turbo engine.

While under the car took at few more pictures I added to post #3. Swapping the springs while still mounted to the car I realized all the bolts for the wastegate have plenty of clearance to remove while everything is still mounted on the car *big plus and easy to swap springs*

Great setup good to see a decent turbo kit on the market.

Interesting positioning on the IC, is it going to be ducted. It should help keep water temps down. On my last outing at the track my water temps was getting higher while the oil temp was around 105 celcius. the increase in water temp was most likely due to high ambient temps and the intercooler blocking air to the radiator. Since then I have done additional ducting to the oil coolers as well as ducting to direct air towards the radiator.

I will test this at the next track day on the 1st of November. I expect ambient temps to be even higher as we will be into our summer by then.

Look forward to further updates

Update: I haven't posted anything new lately being work is not letting up, 14-15 hour days are taking a toll with only 1 day off playing catch up with life is getting in the way of playing with the 8. Hopefully will have more updates by the end of the weekend. Everything is still working very good!

LOL I would love to quit this job, but it does a good job at paying the bills and buying me toys.

Been having some trouble with my Greddy Profec Boost controller, A few months ago the harness melted and I repaired the wires but never confirmed if the controller still worked. Now that I am trying to use the boost controller it may not be working, I'm getting 0 response when I make changes, tonight I will borrow a mity vac tool and this weekend will test to see if the controller is toast. I currently have a 6 psi spring in the wastegate so if all else fails and I need to search for a new boost controller I'll continue moving foward by switching to a 9psi spring in the wastegate.

Sorry for the slow updates.

sorry to hear the boost controller died,
I have been tinkering with mine and I am really not impressed, it always seems to spike and then taper off as the rpm increase, I have played with gain and stuff but meh, my car did better with just the straight wastgate. I play with it more just my 2cents
