I think the point behind tuning our RX-8's is really being missed here by the goat fan club.
I just wanted to state i didn't buy my RX-8 and then work on tuning it, so that i could make it quicker than some other car.

I am tuning my RX-8 because this is what i want to drive. The End. Period.

I love my 8 and could have a GTO if I want one, but I don't. I just want to see if the turbo is worth it. A local shop that tunes RX7's said that a guy with a Greddy hated it so much that he took it out.

Well, he probably hated it because he was probably running it without any of the fixes that we have now. I hated it before and i didnt even have it but the wrinkles have been ironed out for the most part now and its a great kit.

^ Because we can. We have FI. Therefore, we have both rapid acceleration AND handling. Those of us with FI don't have to rely on the "take 'em to the twisties" argument anymore to compensate for the terrible straight-line performance of the stock 8. Everyone wants better acceleration - autocrossers included.
Stop being such a hater. If you woke up tomorrow and found a GReddy turbo miraculously installed on your 8, you know damn well you'd be like pigs in ****.
Don't get me wrong, folks. I'm not hating. I would LOVE to have some good ol fashion grunt. I've met Mazda Maniac and talked with him about his setup (LOTS OF RESPECT FOR THAT DUDE ). Heck, I've got 9K more miles before the warranty fat lady sings and I put some of the things he told me to good use. All in all you are right MadDog, taking someone on the twisties is not an argument. You would still have to deal with the straights. I just need enough power to keep them away when I get to the straight.

I guess I just see the 8 being the most balanced car out there and fear people making it into a 1 dimensional car. You know when people say stuff like, "yeah man the 8 is tight. you can get a XXXX turbo/sc kit and run 11s in the 1/4" other than "yeah the 8 is tight. it did that redline time attack gig and killed everybody with only 300hp and full freakin interior. say goodnight GM cobalt!!!" But that's just me. Sorry if I offended anybody AKA put the flame out please.

0-60 time??? I think I'm doing low 7s (AEM CAI, Borla catback, BFG KDW2s), but I have to go to the track to see for sure. But I think I suck though.

These 8 vs. whatever car threads are funny in a morbid sort of way---its like the haters/trolls/a$$holes that come on here to talk about how the 8 is so slow is like they are gracing us with some grand unknown knowledge that we didn't get a car that can get to 60mph in 5 seconds flat. At the RX8s price any one of us could have gotten most of these cars they are compairing--we didn't because we didn't want to. GTO---blah, I really wanted to love this car, but when I saw it and test drove it I was left feeling numb. Mustang--never liked Mustangs, the new one is nice but I'm still not sold--plus I don't like seeing myself everywhere. 350Z--only 2 seats, and its styling leaves alot to be desired for me, and it runs out of breath lower on the rev line. G35--they are everywhere--and its not as involving to drive. S2000--only 2 seats.
