If someone did do a street port with stock ecu,do you know how much power gain was. enough to feel it was worth it ?
which part of the electronics controls the DSC and traction control. if a part is replaced by another system will the DSC still work ?

search for the street port. there was a long thread by guitarjunkie where he was street porting a rx8 for someone.
the ecu controls the DSC/TCS. with a piggy back system, everything should function as normal/stock, but with added tuning capabilities..

after a bad boost spike, she blew black smoke then quit that, ran fine for a minute of so but then idle like super bad, 2000 rpm, then 3000 rpm, then back to 2000 rpm and so on.
Smelled a little of something burning but that went away. It does drive, i drove it to the garage and parked it, but you have to rev it over 3000 rpm cause if not it surges cause of the idle.
Have not done a compression check yet, maybe this evening. I did notice that an intake bolt was loose, i tightened it but it made on difference. could be a bad vacuum leak but i am thinking that when the boost spike hit it knocked (which i did hear) and popped the seal.
Sound like anything familar to you guys?

Bend over, open wallet, repeat as necessary.
Repeating ? about which ECU flash you're on.

not really sure on the flash, i think something like the n, i don't let them flash mine cause it ran great and seemed a little more powerful than other 8s, so i did not want mazda messing with it. once i went turbo, of course not then.
i don't hear any grinding noises either, but the idle is hell.

man, sorry to here about the crap luck again. Mine's still being rebuilt, so hopefully since it's holidays and everything now I'll get it back within a month or so. If worst comes to worse with ur car, call rotorsports...can't hurt since ur in nc too. good luck bro.
