bov tuning...
ok so i was a dumbass and decided to play with my BOV.. greddy type rs recirculating...
a/f wise right now my idle is about 12.5 crusing around 14-15.5 boosting hard about 10-11ish
are these readings okay? am i running a bit too rich cuz now my exhaust is starting to smell again... it hasnt smelt this bad before i messed with the BOV so i assume theres too much fuel? or am i just losing it?
also is this correct...? softer= lower a/f harder = higher a/f

idk about tuning or anything but with these a/f shouldnt i be getting better mpg? so what im wondering is it my tune thats giving me this crap mpg even tho my a/f are lean?

Benny is running an Int-X.
Your AFRs look pretty decent. The rich idle is fairly common with the Int. Your cruising afrs are a touch lean. Your WOT could be a little rich. Which wideband are you running? I know the AEM wideband (UEGO) does not read below 10. You could be running 8:1 and it would say 10. You might be able to take some fuel out of the curve and narrow your boost AFRs more toward 11-11.5. That's not a big adjustment though.
What did your gas mileage run before? It's expected you lose a little, but if my car ran 13 mpg after tuning, I'd think something was wrong (I get 18-22 right now).
Can you do a data log? It'll be better representative of how your car is running. Does your idle run 15-16 with light AC all the time? I'd probably never turn the AC off.

i am running the intx and aem uego... my gas mileage before was redic... i first got 17.5 regardless how i drove.. conservative or taking off hard.. 17.5... then i got some mazda reflash and i was getting 18-20 but the car felt sluggish... then another flash and i was getting 15-15.5... so that led be to believe it was the stupid flashes tuning my car funny... so i figured i could get atleast 15mpg with a turbo/good tune...
what i dont understand is how im running 7psi and driving 85% conservative and getting 13mpg while another forum memeber is boostin 11psi and getting 15-17 and he claims he doesnt baby it... so besides tunning what else could be causing this bad mpg?
ps is there a way i can load my tune off my intx up onto the forum? do i just have to plug the wire to a computer and take screen shots?

Not having an Interceptor in hand, I can't tell you much about posting a tune. You can capture datalogs which would probably be in txt tab delimited format. The other half of tuning is timing. Maybe your timing is too conservative. Are you running a cat?
I'm not really old hat at this. I'm probably only touching on the tip of the ice berg. There can be a lot of things ruining your gas mileage. My car's gas mileage has always been about 18 local and 21 highway. If I run it hard, my gas mileage is absolutely effected. The gas station out in Logan, OH should know me well. I got 11.4 mpg while in that area. Good times.

the only way is to take screen shots.
What are your AF while accelerating and not in boost, and while cruising?
Your boost levels do not really affect you MPG that much as you do not drive in boost all the time. (unless you do off course)
it is your vac tune. I find that many tend to tune the crap out of their cars when under boost, totally neglecting the vacuum side, which is what you stay in most of the time.

your bov isn't going to effect your mpg like that. So don't worry about it.
adjust it till it is so loose that it goes off when you let off the gas, but not so loose that it opens under boost.
btw I can go into the 16s when cruising. it'll be fine since there's no load (flat road) and I have no cat to burn out.

accelerating its at about 15ish (not in boost)
cruising its at 15.5-16.6 range..

i only said that because by playing with the settings i noticed a change in a/f so i thought the high they were the better my mpg would be.. changed about .5-1 mpg...

yeah when i acc during dd i try to keep it light on the throttle.. i put just enought pressure for my mph to go up.. i cruise at about 3.5k rpm and shift at about 4-5k rpm
is normal for my a/f being higher when i cruise at 4k rpm rather then at 3k rpm?>

Just make sure you are not too lean in the 5-6K area. keep it at 14.5from there on up.
Shifting at 5K on DD is a bit aggressive too, I think. Especially when you just let the throttle in slowly.
When I am not aggressively driving, at a very light throttle, I shift at around 3K-4K. That should also help. But you have to boost and go redline at least once or twice a day, man.
Blows the carbon out of your engine. :-)
