I havent yet purchase my RX8 yet but im so in love with them, I went ahead and made a club account. i just had a question in regards to installing a turbo onto my car. i havent found one in the right color nor one with the correct interior I want, but i do plan on buying a turbo kit for this car and installing it.
if i am to install it with an intercooler. would my stock fender be able to go back on?
if not is there some other aftermarket fenders i could purchase to fit over my intercooler?
please msg me or whatever with you input and thoughts thank you.

These threads are starting to pop up daily now

1: WTF would you install a turbo without an intercooler?
2. Are you knowledgable about forced induction? You don't sound like it
3. Do you even have any understanding about this car? Rotary engines?
4. Do you have a 10k budget to do it properly?

I could go on but I will just sit and wait for the

Let me break it down to you in a step by step format.

1. Read every sticky on this site (except the wheel threads; it always fits).
2. Save up 3 times as much as you plan on spending on the car
3. Find a knowledgeable tuner.
4. Be the next guy to consider an LSx swap.
5. Wait a year while things get done.
6. Give up and buy a Camaro.
7. Live your life a quarter mile at a time (for that 10 seconds you will be free).

Welcome to our humble forum.

Well my father has a twin turbo rx7,
and I recently finished my girlfriends single turbo 350z.
My question wasn't about the turbo itself I can do that just fine, the question was where could I find a fender that would fit OVER the intercooler once installed.
I already own a single turbo jeep liberty which I hate the **** out of.
And to the camari enthusiast, thanks for the warm welcome but I've been in love with the rx8 for a while. And I'm trying to go for a certain style car. Not a drag car.
Just a fun toy to whip out every now and again.

Just trying to tell you to do your research first before you get set on things, in my sarcastic way. The Renesis isn't as easy to boost as a 7, or any of those other cars.

Start with these:

^Exactly! We see "I'm gonna turbo my 8" threads all the time. Only a few ever make it boosted. This isn't the car you can just slap on a bolt on turbo kit. If it was that easy, I'd be boosted, but I don't have the $ to drop 10k into a build project and be without my daily driver for half a year. Be prepared to have the engine rebuilt, and probably rebuilt again after 30k miles.

Read 9k's boost thread, shaddy's, hoss's, and a few of the other builds and see what they have gone through to get their cars too where they are today.

Lol ok Pieper. Your posts are just so irrelevant and uninformative. Who are you to talk **** when you've done so little yourself.

Go back to dreaming of adding rx8 suicide doors to a gto and post about the thought on the GTO forums so they can laugh at you too, you ignorant dumbass.

Be nice Blackbriar. I might buy some stuff in your part out. Glad to see you are paying full price so Hinson can have their kit fitted and sold to others. Did they offer you profit sharing? Has it taken 3 months yet? Maybe I should hand my car and twice its value over to a stranger to make it even more exotic because I couldn't keep a stock one running.

Learn to take a joke, kid, and stop obsessing over something I said six months ago during a joking conversation.

lol. just let me know when you do anything worth talking about. I'm not going to complain about the cost when my builder is who he is. Hot Import Nights is this weekend, and my car might make an appearance...

Blackbriar, calm down and keep it civil.

Not getting along with someone is fine, attacking them for responding to someone else is crossing the line.

If your builder wants to talk, then let them. They are the ones doing the work. You need to stop flying off of the handle. It becomes entertaining quickly and encourages poking the bear.

I do every little bit of work myself on all of my cars. My hands get dirty(beyond an accidental ink stain) and when everything is finished I feel like something has been accomplished and my day is better. I don't make excuses for my car. It isn't crazy fast. I don't live a quarter mile at a time so in that 10 seconds I can be free. My car gets driven less than 100 miles a week but those drives are great and I love my 8. Years later it makes me as happy as my 1st test drive.

I don't have anything to prove with how fast it is and my main goal is to make sure it stays in good running condition. I have had outrageous vehicles in the past. They break down constantly and become a major pain to your existence.

Pearl, sorry for poking the bear so much, but it make a neat growling noise.

I don't see his comment as targeted at you or out of line. It's known fact that LS conversions have been attempted numerous times and at least until recently, every single one has failed. If you will be the first or one of the first, that's a point of pride!

Don't let the failures of the prior attempts become a personal insult to you.

Ok well my 8 is boosted and yes it's expensive but you don't need to spend 10k, and having played with turbo cars before much of the same principal's apply, just the tuning is different and that's simple use a reliable well know tuner. I've got all the supporting mods, and have swapped the engine in my 8 and I would say this is a relatively easy car to work on.

To the original poster, I do agree with others you would benefit from a little more reading and this post is not really necessary. There is good info out there and do not be intimidated by buying an 8 and working on it. I find RX8 ownership fairly painless, and it's a great car to drive in hoolagan mode.

No worries the fender's don't factor in anything, just need to cut some of the fender lining.

Best of luck, (also the reason you hate the Jeep Liberty is because it's a Jeep Liberty lol)

Cheers

Also make sure you know what you're talking about before laying in someone else, many turbo cars came stock with no intercooler, just to name one the Merkur XR4TI boosted 15psi stock with no intercooler what so ever

If anyone is buying an RX8, this would be the last place to get on. You hear of so many engines that died and so many others who swear that you have to redline everyday and so many putting in expensive oil and so many using pre-mix and so many warnings that you will sell of your RX8 worrying that it may break down anyday. There is a middle aged housewife at my job who has 84K on her original emngine, who has never ever come close to redlining or doing all the other stuff so many experts on this forum advise because she has never heard of this forum and I know others who were so paranoid their engine would go to hell that they sold their car the first time the check engine light came or sold it before they got to 50K andfelt pleased that they found a sucker to buy their car.

Thats an excellent story sir! They should make you a moderator with all of that fine wisdom and intricate knowledge of the rotary engine.
