Team , did you ever stop to think what drives people to do anything exceptional in this world? You don't seem to understand this at all, which along with your general demeanor, suggests to me that you have some kind of mental disability. Do you ? Maybe if I knew that I could understand what drives you to be such an A...
I don't deny it, I would like recognition for doing something good! So when you come on here, seemingly, with the sole purpose of undermining what I've spent years working on I say FU!
You say it's been done before and continue on an endless rant intent on discrediting me, yet you can't even be bothered posting a pic of the thing you say is the same as what I've come up with. Why is that ?

I will say though, there should be massive credit attributed to Brett here for his findings through a lot of research/testing. Its all proven here in the club. To say "too bad people will copy stuff" and not let Brett be upset about this is very naive.

Brett if possible I'd try to get in contact with him and see what he claims and doesn't. And if it doesn't add up then maybe worth showing the community what this guy's intentions are.

Actually just looked at the image above, link is in the photo.
Thanks Fickert.
As you would have seen , I did confront him about it. He just tried to make out it wasn't a copy and even compared it to a Greddy He has already come unstuck with his first attempt to copy , which underlined his lack of understanding about how it works. So this time he just blatantly copied it as closely as he could while making subtle changes to make it look different.

Yes I was reading yesterday and first thing was him making claim that rx8club is pretty much a closed-door cult. What a nice stand-out guy lol. And he is literally being a salesman in a majority of his posts.

You can definitely tell that a large chunk of inspiration came from your design. The fact that his original design was very square and cnc'd then all the sudden had a huge design change with the dip after the center port was added, not much iteration talk at all over his silent time period, but was proud to do so previously. Now, I do not understand your choice of geometry, so if it is mostly decided off of fitment please chime-in here. As he has no explanation of his changes aside from "fitment", but has a very radical design change. And his v-band flange transitions I think help explain that side of my assumption.

I believe some poking the bear should be ensued to see/show if he has any intellect on the design; IE changes look much more dramatic for just fitment purposes, why? What iterations from the previous to this led you to this design? Documented iterations/testing?

Also I thought it was interesting, he mentioned the machine shop messed up the original ones and they had a chance to start over. I would love to know why, he leaves the door pretty open for opinionated interpretation.

I will say that back in 2014 when I was looking to buy a fun car, I spent some time here doing research and was pretty heavily turned off from the car - not because of the work or maintenance that the car required, but because the community here is dominated by a very specific voice and attitude. I bought a BMW instead and found a really great community over on one of their forums.

I ended up with an RX-8 eventually anyway but I'm not really active here, again because of the general demeanor of a few banging gongs and clanging cymbals that monopolize the conversation and culture. It's really sad because you can look and see some really incredible people leading the charge in developing the RX-8 at a high level that have been pushed out by the incessant negative pestering and posturing that goes on here.

Whether my product was good or bad, I wouldn't want to try and share it here either way knowing how things go around here. Kudos to Brettus for his perseverance and patience.

The geometery of mine was mostly dictated by getting the turbo to sit in the right spot ....same for his as he is using a different turbo. But the way the manifold is working is virtually identical. I would say that mine has more of a direct shot from the rear port into the turbo though ..... which is a good thing.

Pic just showing how to set up brake line .
Turn bracket around 180degrees
Grind flat on hex so it goes into bracket without interferance
Bolt back into original mounting hole.
Bend bkt as required to line up hose.

Finally got around to making a custom maf tube (vs the weapon R one I've been using for years)
Did this for several reasons:
*old one looked messy with all the tubes poking out of it.
*Maf sensor was at wrong angle to the bend which meant it couldn't be aligned with the next tube very well plus the maf body was hitting the pipe beside it.
*I'd used a Treadstone honeycomb in the old tube which I felt was somewhat restrictive due to the very fine hex ( approx. 2mm). The new honecomb has a 6mm hex.

I can't stress enough the importance of getting this part of your build right ! Especially if you are going to be flash tuning(MAF sensor) vs standalone tuning with a MAP sensor.
****** Maf sensor needs at least 3" of straight section before and 2" after, plus the tube that joins to front of the maf tube MUST be square and parallel to the maf tube !!!!!

Components for DIY :
*3.5" Al. tube with 45 degree bend
*Maf sensor mount : https://performancemrp.com/i-3049764...tegory:1389197
*Honeycomb maf straightener : https://performancemrp.com/i-3049756...er-screen.html
*Araldite two pot glue to glue the honeycomb to the tube (rated to 85C min.)
*5mm thick AL. 40mmx20mm welded to underside to enable drilling and tapping hose fittings.

Retuned with the above intake in place ...was hoping the larger honeycomb hex wouldn't upset the low speed driving dynamics and happy to report it's just as good as it was before! Win!

I said what I had to say and I meant every word. I don’t care to say more, but am not going to let that statement go.

As convenient of an excuse that would be now that nobody believes you when it comes to the claim that I know nothing about anything going on here, now trying to spin it into a mental disability claim would only be too convenient, except it’s not true. It also wouldn’t explain all the times you failed to discredit various technical merits I proposed. Not that I didn’t miss the mark a few times though, it’s not really the point. Rather, the difference is that unlike yourself, I only view it as discrediting those ideas. Nobody has discredited you, only that your ego views it that way.

Perhaps you forgot that I was one of the first people to lay hands on your turbo kit. It doesn’t quite fit the narrative.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-maj...5/#post4967753

I can post many, many more. Simply put, you take it all directly to heart regardless, yet are blind to your own disability in doing so. The issue is that you’re unable to hear or know the things I’m speaking of. I certainly know and understand what drives men better than you yourself do. I lived most of my life doing that. It’s exactly what has been posted by me here over and over. Again, the world and the things of it are here today and gone tomorrow. Anyone who puts their faith and believe in it will be too.

Now let me ask you a counter question; Do you know what drives men to sacrifice their own needs and desires to help others who are less fortunate; like the poor, and the homeless, and others who suffered debilitating tragedies in their lives? Yet not just those unfortunate ones, but others as well, all with a completely sincere and open heart, not asking or expecting anything in return, not even a thank you or any remembrance at all?

I do now often wonder … where would this world be today if men were more like that from the very beginning rather being filled to an overflowing state with vanity, pride, and arrogance, and an insatiable desire for their own glory. Even when I’m reading just their words from thousands of miles away, the stench of it is unbearable.

Most of us are just here to do fun stuff with cars. Unfortunately, some people have staked their entire identity in being RIGHT and SMARTER than everyone else, and if they ever feel even just the tiny bit slighted, they fly off the handle into multi-paragraph manifestos about how because Eve bit the apple, some people can't see the futility of peripheral ports. And then those same people call everyone else sensitive, weak, and blind.

It's too bad that useful, helpful people doing interesting things with their cars are getting pushed out because some people have to be needlessly unkind and negative on EVERY. SINGLE. THREAD. and can't just LET. ANYTHING GO.

I've said all I wanted to say and I hope Team has too. Let's get on with the thread.

Here is a log of EMAP I did yesterday at 12psi boost pressure (3rd gear).

At peak power 17.5/12 = Emap/IMAP ratio of 1.46 !
Note. In my current setup I'm restricting the APV ports via a restrictor in the intake which is lowering peak power and EMAP. At some point I'll start a thread on this explaining why I think this is a good idea for the Renesis in many situations.

Boost log (2nd gear) :

Definitely curious why you are intentionally restricting the APV. I don't know enough to understand how that would be a good thing. So any education in that would be helpful.

(Not sure if you saw but my engine is finally ready for boost. Going to start taking the car apart again and getting to work on the installation. Finally.)

I'll start a thread on it soon. We have polluted this one with enough off topic posts already.

Been on my back last few days (with covid) so have been reading some old threads.
Was really interested to see an EMAP log I did of my old V band fabricated manifold with a 1.01AR turbine housing shown below

Compare that with the EMAP log a few posts back using the T3 0.83 AR turbine . Look at the kink (at 6000 rpm ) where apv opens . Ignore past that as APV is restricted on the 0.83 log.
note
At 12 psi boost T3 0.83 @ 6000 = 13psi
At 13 psi boost V band 1.01 @ 6000 = 14psi

Accounting for the boost difference , they are almost identical!
So how can that be ? One would expect the 1.01 to offer at least a couple of psi better emap ...
I'm putting this down to the cast stainless manifold which has better flow paths plus ... the stainless holds the heat much better than the mild steel fabricated setup.

Bro, losing the ability to taste food suuuuuuuccccckkkkksssss...I've ducked that like the matrix...also...I still need to order a turbo...

I've read a few things...gotten a few suggestions...can I get a confirmation...I don't mind experimenting if you want me to try something new...

Final snail answer? Want me to try something fun? The car/engine is solid AF now.

There is only one turbo that fits. The only decision to make is whether you use the 1.01 or the 0.83. And as you plan on endurance racing , I'd go with the 1.01. That housing is gunna be a tight fit so will require a slightly bigger hammer than the 0.83 but worth it. IMO

you’re assuming the turbine housing is the domineering emap factor, when in fact it may be the manifold itself.

That's what I actually said and it was the whole point of the post ....... It's the difference between the fabricated manifold and the cast stainless one.
