I'm sure it will work. It might rust long term. I think it is just a 5 PSI switch. That sounds really low to me. I would want something that is close to the operating pressure of the w/m system.

AEM water/meth failsafe :P
But on another note, don't go crazy with the leaning out and water/meth. It's not race fuel.

So yeah ..................
Had a slight ping when overtaking the other day . Warm day , 4 people in the car , 3rd gear around 6000rpm .
Enriched it a little , tweaked the W/M up a little . Hopefully it will be ok now ............
Thank goodness for my aftermarket apex s
In other news .............. I think i may have stumbled across renesis turbo fuel economy nirvana ............... more to come !

just poking around for some updates.

LOL . Hate to be a disappointment .
Have not been driving the 8 much at all lately and the dyno didn't happen . Maybe sometime in January .
Re the fuel economy ..... getting up to 30 miles extra (maybe 10%) on a tank . Not sure I understand why but it does correspond with a modification i did .
Not worth discussing till I can confirm it's consistent. Should be doing lots of miles over xmas so will have a better idea next month.

I have decided that all I want as far as a safety goes is for a light to come on telling me when there is water pressure .I find it rather worrisome to be at full boost and not know if the W/M is working or not.

Hooked it up and the pressure of the water (200psi) doesn't trigger the switch . Pressure should just ground out the terminal to the body of the switch ................. right ?

This is a pure guess, but I think the oil pressure switch will not conduct electricity when it has pressure. Then when the pressure falls it will turn the light on.

Crap brett, I don't remember what it looks like. Is it a single wire switch? Did you ohm it to see if it is normally open or normally closed? If it is single wire then it will ground out to the body.

I got the normally open switch in today. Still waiting on the normally closed one. It screwed right into 1/8NPT and looks like it's good. I'll have to do a little testing with it.

The voltage doesn't matter. It will work on 12 volts or less. The Wattage it can handle will be a little different, but it doesn't take much to run a light. As long as it is sealed and doesn't leak the fluid should not matter either.
As for the pressure. It might go higher. I'm using this one for fuel pressure cut. So I'll be setting it at 50PSI.

Seeing as I've already let the cat out of the bag to a few people .....
Open SSV at 4000 (boosted engines only ! )
Pros :
Smoother transition of SSV
Better mpg (Still not conclusive but results so far are promising)
Slightly more power between 3200 and 4000 (under boost SSV would normally open at 3200)
Cons : extremely difficult to tune out the spikes and troughs - especially when using non standard injectors in Sec. position. but - doable![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Why better MPG ? some thoughts .............
Fewer secondary injector transitions
possibly reduced pumping losses (at cruiseing loads) in the 3500-4000rpm range
