Since your using the 4port solenoid why not add a boost cut. Here is a good looking off the shelf knock monitor setup with 5v signal out. It's much cheaper than a rebuild.

Sorry, can't get excited when we've seen 25 PSI by 2950RPM with enough headroom for 500 RWHP before. I do like the 4 port boost control solenoid though, I was planning on using one of those with 7PSI springs so I'm still able to make it to 30PSI if I wanted. |

There are a couple of tricks to either move the choke line or move the PR. But it is better to start with a properly sized cold side.

It was just in response to the earlier comment, kind of wish I had ignored it now. But that number is entirely possible with the EFR turbos and as mentioned they will do mid 20s which is getting to be standard practice now, but you need to run E85 to handle that kind of boost that low in the rpm range.
Did you notice in the Efficiency Thread that the little 7163 was capable of 16 psi @ 2000? That would generate a low rpm torque number nobody ever thought was possible on a rotary engine. I agree you still have a lot of things to try and do, so this isn't to be negative or knock on your setup, but the first thing I look for now is torque curve. While you were making some good power up high on the virtual dyno plot the torque curve overall is very weak. In fact peak torque occured at approx. 8200. That's an obvious sign to me that the sizing is too biased to the top end. Some of the other things may help as you suggest, but I'm still feeling that the tighter housing is the ticket. . |
Brettus, I think you are best to pull the motor and rebuild before you make too many drastic or major changes to the setup. You have certainly proved the concept of your design and I commend you for it. As you know, the low compression isn't going to help torque, it's also going to affect how much timing & boost you can run with. If you sort the compression issue before changing too many things, you know then that the motor is good and your tune would be more suitable. Smaller alterations to your setup will then have a larger effect on your goal. It's win win :)
I don't mean any of this with detriment, as said I commend you for your work so far and I look forward to seeing what you can achieve with it. Sending positive waves man :Peace: |

Well you can either try a smaller hot side, or you can retard timing when going into boost. Timing is easiest, but it may cause the damage you are looking to prevent with a larger exhaust housing.
