I could care less really. :dunno:

Even if you are #1 as you seem so intent on being stated as, that isn’t any proof that you’re not doing it wrong and not near true potential. Pretty sure some are coming sooner or later though

I just thought if you could be bothered rubbishing what I'm doing that you could also be bothered backing up what you say :dunno:

Excuse me? Based on what I actually said below it seems more like your ego is a bit too personally involved against making sound, rational assessments.

I wouldn’t say this except you’re the one who brought up turbo sizing and where you’re at now. This just my opinion, but I disagree that sizing is your issue. The issue is what I perceive to be flaws in the general concept and applied design of where your overall configuration is. Wha I think isn’t really relevant though. As long as you end up happy and satisified with your car & efforts then that’s all that matters.

Otherwise I’m going to start a dedicated thread on my proposal and stop interjecting on this thread about your car.

Maybe "rubbishing" was too strong a word to use ... perhaps 'criticising' would suit better . Nevertheless I still fail to see how you can say it's flawed when there isn't anything out there that does any better.

Maybe?

Again, you are too personally invested against anything except your own internal concepts and ideas. I chose my words well in that statement because it was already apparent to me that you’re not open to listening to any other input in general, mine in particular. That’s fine; your car, your way. No problem.

Note that I didn’t say you were rubbishing/criticizing/whatever internal negative spin you want to twist it into about my 7163 turbo idea. That’s just how you see it, but it seems to me on that point you still try to use your Garrett bssed hybrid experience to translate directly to an BW EFR turbo, which imo is an incorrect assessment. That’s fine too; my idea, my deal if I pursue it.

When you go ahead and do it ........... if it works as you say it will and you have info to back that up , I'll be the first to congratulate you. If it doesn't work . i'll criticise your choices just like you do to me. At this point you have no 'skin in the game' so it's just an idea. You should welcome any discussion that might help you get the desired outcome. If you go ahead and do it , whatever the outcome, you will have invested time and money into it. If it's actually working and I come along and say it's 'flawed' wouldn't you want me to somehow back that up ?
The thing is you just keep saying that my design is flawed because you think it is based on how you think things should work...not because it doesn't actually work.

TeamRX8 01-03-2018 03:43 PM

Yes, I called it my opinion for a reason. There’s no reason for you to take it so personal, especially if you honestly feel that I’m wrong, but for me your replies just don’t add up on multiple levels.

As far as skin goes, you don’t know everything about me any more than I, you. I suppose all those other ‘criticisms’ I told you about that you eventually determined were actually true getting to this point don’t matter much either. Otherwise I’m sorry that you choose to feel hurt for something not intended that way at all. Best wishes to you getting to this completed to the satisfaction level that’s good enough for you.

Brettus 01-04-2018 02:02 PM

I really just wanted a discussion ... and am annoyed you wont give me one . Apart from that ...no I'm not hurt.

TeamRX8 01-04-2018 09:34 PM

I don't have any issue having a discussion or helping you. I'm just not sure that's possible when you dig your heals in and refuse to see the obvious. I'll just post this as an example.

This is the EFR 7163F compressor map with the EFR 7670C compressor map outline imposed on it. Aside from the 7670 super high boost area advantage at the top of the map they are basically equal. Even on the far right of the flow map there's only 2% - 4% efficiency difference between the two. Granted the turbines are going to be different, but there's really no reason for you to be so dead set against the idea except just to be bullheaded.

Then there's the linked page below chock full of straight-up comparison dyno tests, albeit with Subaru piston engines, but this demonstrates some of the differences between the BW EFR and Garrett in straight up applications

https://www.perrin.com/blog/post/bor...-test-and-tune

To be frank, I'm not sure I really even completely understand how your system is fully configured because it's changed several times over, let alone know exactly what's the specific issue is. I just know there are a number of things that don't add up because again, there are known turbo/engine combinations that provide certain levels of expected performance, and your system seems to been operating way outside those parameters. It's just obvious for me to some degree that somehow you seem to have backed yourself into a corner and are off-track. If you don't want to believe there's anything wrong, then that's fine. Again, it doesn't matter much to me one way or the other. It's your deal, not mine.

.

Brettus 01-04-2018 10:15 PM

Those dynos do show what a great turbo the 7163 is.

As far as what's the issue with my setup ............ sure there is an issue........... and everyone that has ever attempted to extract decent power from a Renesis knows what it is ...................... The Renesis !
My point is that no one else has done any better so it's unfair to point the finger at my setup and say it's flawed without also saying every setup that has ever been built for it is flawed.

The 7163 will work just fine and probably be the quickest spooling turbo ever to be fitted to a Renesis ........... but it wont fix the Renesis .

TeamRX8 01-04-2018 10:21 PM

Ok then; heals dug in. Good luck.

Yes .................... Yours.

Edit
Ok ...........mine too ;)

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 01:02 AM

No, I just don’t care. :)

rotarenvy 01-05-2018 04:34 AM

search for rx8 7163 and there is someone posting on youtube with a series 2 with that turbo.

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 07:43 AM

I saw one several years back, didn’t seem to have a good understanding about what he was doing if it was the same one, but I’ll go look again .... thx

edit: looks like around 290 rwhp @ 10 psig boost, nice response ramp up from low rpm, owner seems a bit different still, looks like he has the parts, maybe not the experience ...

Oh, and Full Race has a 4th version of the EFR 7163 turbo listed now so it must be new or custom; 0.85 V-band with IWG :) has a $600 adder cost though ... :uhh:

.

9krpmrx8 01-05-2018 11:01 AM

OT but the kit I will be installing on my 335i will replace the factory Borg Warner and run the 7670, should put me close to 600WHP with a bit of safety, more if I wanna live dangerously.

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 11:59 AM

Edit:

got to be factual and it was me who was fubar, not BW. I only saw the EWG version along with the other two variations listed on the 7163(F) tech sheet, but if the person reading the tech sheet is paying attention it clearly says it has a large internal wastegate. So that tech sheet is specifically for the 0.85 AR V-band w/IWG. Yeah, I make lots of mistakes ... question everything.

any way, I'll let B have his thread and won't be having any more 7163 or other OT discussions here ... please do the same folks.

Looked pretty unimpressive to me ,response was nowhere near what you would think for that turbo......... then an unspectacular torque peak (for over 13psi) and it's all downhill from there.I'm sure you will show him how it's done though.:Freak_ani

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 02:45 PM

not going to discuss it here anymore, but will be starting a dedicate thread soon ...

Great ................ looking forward to it .

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 08:14 PM

but keep digging that hole for yourself :) and it won't be "me" showing him how it's done. If I build it then it will just be my execution of what has been taught and revealed to me from many well informed and educated sources in the rotary world, and for the Renesis in particular ...

plus I'm not ashamed to say that I myself and nothing except that which God has granted and gifted me with. It is only through his will, mercy, and love that I exist and he provides me with everything freely that I am, have, and will ever be.

Redrotarycar 01-05-2018 11:13 PM

I would love to see this renesis built, gt35r the rotary turbo of choice? Maybe yours, 8374 is the best thing right now. Impresibe sspol and power. I own a rx7 fd and in the rx7 club you can find more data about those turbos, howard and eliot( turblown) are good source. Anyways i will check on the progress post pics of the ports when they are done. It will be interesting to see how long this engine will last.

TeamRX8 01-05-2018 11:31 PM

I consider the work i'm doing as a challenge to overcome the constraints of this engine. Maybe I'll achieve that and maybe I wont.......... but if I do, it will be something that no one up until today has done before and therefore ...100% worth the effort.
Until you understand that there actually are constraints you will continue in your belief that everyone that ever tried to turbo an 8 is an idiot, so at this point I consider that all you have is opinions based on irrelevant information.

If you are going to pull that card .... I suggest you set a better example to us non believers, and show us what a nice person you can be.
