The beast is still going but sadly i have wounded her .
While taking a fast right hander under boost on low fuel I got the dreaded ping ping ping . (Walbro pump was no help at ALL ! )

So now she runs ok for general driving but is hard to start and does not idle that well .

Time is drawing near for the next instalment in my saga

damn sorry to hear that Brettus.
use the 09 pump assembly next? i have never liked walbros (consistent quality issues in my area)--plus the cup/unit design on the 09's is much better.
Look at microblue ( Microblue .com) for consideration in your next build. Its the real deal --not just some "coating". Seriously.
So come back better and stronger than before

thanks OD . Not too concerned about it - i've had a good run from this engine and turbo . 57000kms engine - 76000 from the turbo . Which in 300+whp Renesis terms aint bad

The 09 pump sounds like a good idea - you say it solve the starvation problem on low fuel and hard cornering ?

The pump itself doesn't prevent fuel starve under cornering

True--the walboro pump in it self will not fix the other deficits in the S1 assembly --
Since we run 20-30 minutes sessions and we get about 9-10 mpg while out there( that about the average for the Ga RX8 club guys) we never go on track with less than between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of gas. If you go out with 1/4 or less of a tank then you can still have some issues.
Both NA engines and FI engines have had good consistent results from the S2 upgraded assembly here in Ga. We do run R compound tires and the G loads can get pretty high for a street driven car. We run a variety of tracks.
On the street I have never had a problem even with the low fuel warning light on. Of course with that light on i didnt run it hard.

fwiw, the Aeromotive pump would be recommended over a Walbro

You can also replace the siphon pickup assembly in the RH saddle with an OE pump to feed the main pump in the LH saddle

New engine is being built and will be ready in a couple of weeks . Will have an interesting mod to test - Time for a new thread .

Old engine is still getting me around ok and makes just as much power as before . Idle is about the only thing that i notice being poor . Having a new model starter motor has been my saviour as far as getting it started.

Sure will . There a few things i'm keen to see . like how much carbon buildup after premix and 98 octane fuel exclusive use.

The seals seem to be doing really well at keeping the engine going . I'm sure the stock seals would have just broken and lunched the whole engine well before now - with the abuse this engine has seen . I suspect one of the Esmerils is bent and occasionally (after a 14psi run in a high gear) gets stuck down in the groove . But then it seems to miraculously repair itself and away i go again . It's really weird. We dubbed it the "healermotor" .

Castrol 2T . Not the best available - but it's relatively cheap if you buy in 4L packs ($40) from supercheap .

When racing my two stroke I foundamsoil 50:1 mix to be great with no carbon mix up and if you want to have your exhaust to smell like fruits you can order ipone oil additive

Thats good info. I guess those seals are as advertised. They will "bend" before they break. I vowed to not get another 8 till I had more info about "better than stock" apex seals. This is only 1 vehicle, but I have yet to hear of any breaking. I suspect they would even be decent for a N/A build. But good luck on the new engine!! Cant wait to see the direction you go.

Not only do the girls love the looks and sound of an rx8, they can now love the smell too.
