That's overlap. Overlap is great on an RE. It's like opening the cage on a wild beast.

I had looked at it but decided against it. I really want someone else to do it first and see the longevity of it. The stock ports open far earlier than anyone would ever dream of opening them on a bridged 13B due to side seal support and this just makes me nervous to put a small bridge in there. If it can be done and be reliable then great. I just don't want to be the one to fine out.
Even if it does work, I'm curious to see the effects of the exhaust port flow capabilities as well as the siamesed center ports. Bridge ports on other rotary engines absolutely have to have not only very good flowing exhaust ports but also very good scavenging exhaust systems and these aren't exactly the Renesis strongpoints. It may work out though so we'll see. The best I can figure is that because of the side exhaust ports as opposed to the peripheral exhausts on the older engines, the overlap isn't nearly as drastic as those older ones. This should mean that the importance of scavenging should be lower on the Renesis than the older engines. The lack of overlap on the stock engine would seem to support this as tuned exhausts seem to do nothing on these cars.
As I'm fond of saying, results are worth more than a thousand expert opinions.

i agree with you rotarygod. i was thinking in my head what you said next lol
it is more dangerous now that you have the seal going over two side ports instead of one, but at the same time you dont have a perip. exhaust port for the seal to flex in the middle which would cause variations of where the corner seal locates itsself. I think this makes it a little more consistent on location of ride area over the side ports.
I wish i could do this... ray?

I can't picture a bridgeport on the Renesis giving you overlap....I may just not be thinking it right, by staring at my model Renesis display I have on my desk here, I just don't see it.
You would have to crazy extend the ports, and they would hit the coolant jacket by then.
I would like to see an under-hood shot of your car while it's idling. I really wish you would have taken pictures. If you can post up your illustration of what you thought you saw that would help too
