Yeah... I knew he wanted to do that. But I was kind of expecting the car to be a bit faster than stock. But then again there is barely 1500miles on the engine and had a dead battery before. BTW, Altitude can't affect this car this much can it?

To the OP,
Where you able to get any pictures of the porting?
I am interested in seeing just how small the bridge is and how thin the port must be. I was looking at a rotor/housing/plate here and it looks like everything would be tiny in order for the apex seal not to fall in the port.
Thanks in advance.
Chris

only FI will give you that night and day comparison between stock, but I'm sure you know that

I nearly wrecked a few years ago trying to pass someone on a two lane road near Snowbowl outside of Flagstaff. I could have made the pass in Phoenix but with the elevation change I had to have lost between 10 and 30whp easy.

Hi
I didnt take pics, but will go to them again and get the one iron that was used for test marking and take pics, will take a while before there again,
on the video clip side, it might look slow, but i didnt show where it was done, i only showed the dash, firstly it was a bit of an uphil and secondly we are very high and not at sea level like most of you guys, we are close to 1800Meter above sea level, we loose approx 20% (according to the dyno guys)just due to that factor, then the ecu have to learn fuel trims all again as it reset all when my battery went, one cell died, it is winter here by us now!
i will do another run from first gear on straight line, but you wont see it so much on low speed, the power only makes differance which can really be seen a lot at higher speeds where needed.
i will try get a standard 8 and drive beside him or we do a "dice" and see
then when i have money again to take it for dyno with or a piggy back type system to fuel more or a 3rd party ecu like microtech for the fuel and ignition (am 100% sure we will get much more as we know it doesnt fuel optimum for power now at high rpm)
It just makes sense that at high rpm we will have to fuel much more than what the standard curves will allow, the ecu wont make it too lean, but other guys here in SA added more fuel (with piggyback system) from std and got more power, from mid to top,
to be honest i actually cant wait to actually do it, (just short on cash at moment)
any sponsors?
Philip

Hi
i didnt get pictures but i know that they did do test markings on a spare plate, i will get to them some time and try get the some pics,
i wanted to get while they were busy, and it took long, but when i went again to take, the motor was together already, but i did see the plates when it was done before put toghether,
if not i will trace the standard port and mark it on there as close as possible,
it wasnt that wide (port itself) due to the apex seal, the small piece, but it didnt go anywhere. but on other hand the bridge itself was also very narrow making some more space there as well

There is something else i must still do which will also add some power
I must change oil now after the run in, and of coarse going to use Royal Purple again, gearbox and motor needs to be done again, still has normal oil in since rebuild / porting

I had bad luck,
motor fine, but my Fuel pump went again, i only got approx 10000miles on the last one, and the tank was cleaned out perfectly before we did the change,
dont know if there is a other problem,
we are taking it out in morning and will asses then, we know there is a upgrade pump better than the mazda one, a Walbro which is available in kit for RX8, lots in SA went for them already.
Sounds that the new version 2009 is better,
Will let know by weekend

I need a guinea pig. Chickwafer Dave?
This bridgeport won't compromise the water jacket's square ring land, the side seal, or the apex seal. Overlap induced (using the stock exhaust port) is about ~20* after re-eyeballing it with it occurring from ~20*BBDC to BDC.

Given my experience with turbo bridgeport Rx-7's over the past 6 years, I don't think it'll be an issue really. It'll change how it runs; that's for sure. The only concern I have, and it may not have much merit, is the exhaust port design on the Renny. It's only going to go so far.
