broken apex seal signs?

3mm seals--
let's say you have a really super nice set of lightened, balanced rotors with the snap ring gear and oil mod in the bearing race, but your apex seal grooves are slightly v'd. THAT's when i'd recommend boring them out for 3mm seals. no sense in throwing away a $2500 set of rotors if they can be salvaged.
other than that, 3mm seals will tolerate slightly more detonation than 2mm's but let's face it, they'll still break. they might just give you that extra nano second to take your foot off the gas once or twice if you actually hear the detonation. but yea...they'll still break

I agree 3mm seals are more useful at higher boost levels, but use common sense here. At least in my case, they aren't retail 3mm seals, but have been grooved to different dimensions to fit according the wha the machinest did. Originally we were gonna use a beefier 2mm seal, but there was still clearance so we went with the 3mm seal. So, a beefier stronger seal, more detonation resisitant, better for higher boost...a waste???
