Caps Turbo Build

So I bought dolpho69's greddy kit listed here:

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-s...tegate-257091/

My original plan was to REW swap and that is still my end game, however I've decided to put my efforts toward a house first and the turbo seemed like a more viable option for the time being especially at that price. I plan on making a daily 270-280whp which I know I still have a lot to do/get/learn about to achieve.

I have:
Adaptronic Select
Cobb Accessport
BHR midpipe
Innovative Motorsports AFR gauge
BHR ignition
Air pump removed
Koyo Radiator
Boost Gage
oil temp gauge
coolant temp gauge
spare engine with potential for third

I need/want:
Larger fuel injectors
Fuel pump
EGT sensor
Oil filter relocation (SARX? 9K a little info perhaps?)
Boost controller
Oil pressure regulator
Upgraded/rebuilt turbo
Shelldudes Adaptive tuner

I expect I'll be spending an additional 1500 or so for these parts (not including engine obviously) and miscellaneous mods.

I've read the major horsepower stickies, greddy kit stickies, many of the builds, and bought a couple of Kane's recommended tuning books, but my eyes have not yet begun to bleed so I will be in them more and more before I officially begin this project. I had hoped to have this done before DGRR this year, but I dont think that's realistic.

I would install new OEM Blue Denso injectors from a 4 port Auto in the P2 location (Five-0 injectors has good prices). If you are going to replace your radiator then I would also suggest going with the FAL dual fan setup (see first post of my build thread).

Thanks for the input guys. 9k, I'm also interested in an oil cooler fan.
You guys make some of your own stuff right? Like the oil filter relocation?

Sounds like fun! If you have a Cobb you might hold off on the Adaptronic at first. Nothing against the Adaptronic at all but you can flash tune to start and get the feel of things before adding in the complexity of the Adaptronic until later.

One of the local guys did some testing with an oil cooler fan kit already on the market and it was pointless, the fan just acts as a restriction as speed and doesn't do anything at idle.

I bought the cobb strictly for emissions/cel purposes. I want to be fully in tune with the adaptronic because that will be my platform when it comes time for the REW swap. As I said before, REW is my endgame. The turbo is just a stepping stone on my way there.

It's just a Blox Racing oil filter relocation kit.

Captain Pepper, you should sell your turbo and buy Shelldudes BNR turbo and get that rebuilt.

Looks like you've done some good homework.

You may not need all that stuff on your need/want list. I've done a similar setup recently and for cooling I just installed temp gauges initially and found that I haven't needed any cooling mods to date.

Same thing for injectors - during initial tuning you'll be gradually winding up the boost so you'll be able to see when you're getting high on the injector duty cycle. I'm running OEM injectors on 8-11 psi and don't plan to go much higher.

Don't forget to go mad with the heat shielding on the trans tunnel.

Personally I'd complete your turbo setup on the current old motor in case your tuning process results in some bad ****.

Good luck with the build! Keep us posted.

Update: some local friends are parting out their cars so I have boost, coolant, and oil temp gauges coming along with a koto radiator with silicone hoses, a spare ash tray unit and plastic molding above the stereo to make my own Guage pods, and an engine!

yea but the stock rad has a tendency to break. even if it is just at the nipple. i am just trying to be as prepared as possible. better to overdo it than underdo it. right?
