car misfiring
so as you guys might know i just got my car back from a body shop.
it was running ok for a little while, and today when i drive my car my car misfire and the check engine light stays on.
I was low on gas at first, and i though it might be the gas, so i added the chevron fuel cleaning system and got some 91 gas full tank, but my car is still misfiring. i pulled the code it says one or more of the cylinder is misfiring.
what could be wrong? spark plugs, spark plugs wires, or ignition coils???
im using cobb AP with custom tuned by MM, stock wires and ignition coils, BUR7E for leading, BUR9E for trailing plugs, stock turbo.
thanks for reading, any input are welcome!

it is only during under boost!!
im pretty sure the plugs and wires are connecting good!
my car already have around 44k miles, never changed out coils and wires, changed out plugs when i installed my turbo which is already 20k ago.
should i replace all of them, or just replacing the ignition coils are fine?
also, any coils that you recommend, or stock should be good enough?

More than likely an ignition coil is failing under boost. Nothing uncommon. Get some new coils and maybe some wires too.
I would recommend the BHR coil kit. You asked. It also comes with new plug wires.
It will allow a dwell change with the AP and that should give you a little more HP (10+/-) too.

New tune is not necessary but you will need a dwell update . It bolts right in to the stock coil mounting plate.
No modifications and MM can adjust your dwell with an E-Mail from you.

Install the coils. They plug into the factory harness. NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED. Takes about an hour. (+/-)
Install the new MM AP map. And drive down the road. You can actually drive with your current AP map. But the dwell setting will give you a bit more power.

Sorry for jumping in and I'm not starting a new topic but I have the same problem I guess, well that is what the mazda dealership told me, "missing/missfire". This is when I thought about getting the BHR ignition upgrade since everyone was recommending it. But If your car is missfiring then would the coils sort of fix that problem because I'm starting to get the idea that my rx8 just does not have a strong spark and I notice my idling is off a bit when sitting still. When I first got the car with 69,000 mi on it which now has 80,000 plus and still running strong it felt like one of the newer rx8's that I test drove from one of the dealerships. So the previous owner took really good care of it I guess. But I really do believe that it would be your ignition coils c41250n because it sounds like I'm having the same problem but only I've been dealing with it for nearly a month. I don't know if your car is doing this but I guess its not holding idle like it would normally. I'm glad I found this thread. Oh yea, Easy E1, would you know how much the BHR ignition coils would cost? The dealership tried to charge me $855 for the coils and spark plugs. Sorry if it seems like I'm just taking over the thread but I'm not, I'm just having a similar problem and thought it would be a good idea to post in this thread.

I just sent him a text message.
I would think that the wires are more than likely fine and the plugs should be OK. But I have no way of knowing for sure.

Misfiring could be coils, plugs or plug wires. 90% of the time it's the coils.
The BHR coil kit is $499.00 shipped (Paypal) with electrical harness that plugs into the stock harness and new MSD plug wires.

Now not holding idle could be low compression on the engine, a dirty MAF sensor, a dirty air filter, bad gas, broken engine mount. Bad coils, plug wires or plugs

Sure thing.
Thanks for the assist Easy. Good thing tomorrow is Friday considering I'll have a lot of free time. I'll start cleaning the MAF after my coilovers get installed.
I'm out.

no...i drove fine for a week before the car starts misfiring.
just did paint job.
i was told long time ago that the rx7 plugs im using need to be trim in order to have them fit into the rx8, is that correct? if so, how do i trim it?
also, have you guys heard of Hot wires' spark plug wires, should i just get oem or aftermarket.?

They don't need to be trimmed they need to have a spacer added to them. Additional washer on the leading plug.
Hot Wires equal fail. There's nothing special about them other than the cost. Don't bother with them.
If you just want to replace the plug wires stock are fine. Or you can get a set of MSD's from BHR for the stock coils.
I feel that you would be a lot happier with the performance increase of the BHR coils. And new MSD plug wires are included with the coils.
