Cat smoking a little

Cat smoking a little
As the title says my cat is smoking a little. It only happens sometimes when I just get through boosting, it doesn't happen all the time just once in a while. Is this normal for the greddy turbo? This is the only problem I have experienced since I installed the kit.

Its not the cat. I'm afraid its probably bad news for your turbo - it needs to be rebuilt. Depending on where the smoke is coming from, its either getting in the intake and burning (smoke comes out the tailpipes) or its leaking out of the housing itself (smoke comes from under the car or engine bay)
Its quite common for the GReddy turbo to fail after only a short life. Its a twofold problem. First, the oil pressure going to the turbo is too great. Get a restrictor per my thread on this. Second, depending on your boost settings, you could be over-spinning the turbo, further destroying the bearings.

I have not turned up the boost. There is no smoke coming out of my pipes just a little smoke coming directly off the cat. There is no smoke coming from the turbo, just a little smoke from the cat not every time I boost just once in a while. I've only had the turbo installed for 3 days, could it fail that fast?

How could smoke possibly come from the cat if its not coming out through the tail pipes? Its sealed in a metal housing through which no smoke could come.
I'd bet its actually coming from the exhaust manifold. Oil leaks out of the turbo housing and onto the manifold. I suppose it could possibly be blown onto the cat housing if you're going fast enough and the air currents are just right. I removed the splash gaurd a long time ago, so my flow is likely different than yours.

I found it, oil is leaking out of the oil feedline onto the turbo. I'm guessing that when the oil pressure gets high it leaks a little. As I am remembering now I forgot to put locktight on the oil feedline nut on the turbo. So I am thinking that maddog you are right saying that oil must have blown onto the cat.
