Considering buying a RX8
I am considering buying a RX8, this would be my first rotary. If I get it, I am going to throw on a turbo.
Regarding building up a rotary to hold around 20psi, what all needs to be done and what will the cost be?
I am wanting something streetable as I just sold my "toy" which was a 2002 RSX-S with a built motor and gt35rs turbo.
Any information would be appriciated.
Thanks.

20psi on what turbo?
psi means little by itself.
to flow efficiently, that's probably going to be a setup prone to lag. why not shoot for a hp/tq goal instead, and work from there?
I've seen plenty of people just crank up the boost on cars, and while they made more power, they'd have been much better off with a slightly bigger turbo and lower boost pressures.

Then the PTP or SFR turbo kits is for you. The PTP kit uses the gt35r also. You wont need to boost 20 psi to make over 300whp either. The PTP kit makes 350+ and the SFR makes 320+whp. Those are in the $6-7k range for this kit plus all the other things needed and installed.

I think the GReddy is a good starting point, I would obviously plan on a fuel pump and 750-800cc injectors right out of the box. The GReddy manifold should be able to support a larger turbo as well so I see no need in spending 2x the amount of money for basically the same stuff.

you need to do some more research before spening your money.
1 - Hybrid hit 310 with stock fuel pump and injectors.
2 - Getting a bigger turbo in there isn't as easy as it sounds. The space where the greddy turbo sits is very limited.

Wait for the PTP kit to come out. It will be complete, and has head room to go to 400 whp. Greddy is good for what it is, but if you are planning on going 300+ whp by the time you spend all the money on the upgrades to the Greddy kit, it will be somewhat close to the PTP kit.

Dude, you realize that the RX-8 has three staged fuel injectors right? 800 cc would be waaaay too big I would think. I don't know the fuel requirements for the 8, but those injectors would feed a Supra putting down *** loads of power.

Won't get a (much) bigger turbo in that area (like BigOLundh said), most of the turbo kits with the bigger turbos have them in a completely different area (on top). Also Beodude is right 800cc's are way too big. With 500-600cc injectors you are good to 400 whp+. Like I said, wait for the PTP Turbo kit, it has everything you will need, and 350+ whp is a realistic goal.

Yeah, I am definently going to research a bit more. I love the styling of the RX8, but I may just wait and see how these turbo kits pan out.
Another consideration for me is getting a used IS300 and making that a beast, but the RX8 is first because of the styling and how fun it is to drive.

You could always also swap the 618z turbo out with a GT30RS. The bolt patterns are the same and at most you may need to modify the outlet pipe that connects to the downpipe. I may just go that route.
