hmmmmm, damn wish I had the money to burn like you guys, I'd love to rebuild just for the fun of it but I don't have an extra $5k sitting around, everything's gotta be so god damned expensive in Canada

Meh, just sneak across the border and live in the USA. Illegal aliens "Undocumented immigrants" can get rebuilds for the same price as US citizens!

Hahaha.... I haven't even looked into the cost of a rebuild somewhere in the states, but when the time comes I will definitely look into the idea of limping my car down somewhere for a rebuild.... one of you fella's who's had to rebuild, what is a ballpark $$ amount that it costed you? I know there is a shop close to Vancouver up here that would be approximately $5000... but even Vancouver is a very far way from me

You ever tried Sasquatch meat??

And no I was just hinting that it could be feasible to drive somewhere in the states since I already have to go long distance...

This is actually something I've been considering a LOT lately. Prior to installing my turbo, I'd prefere to have a fresh build by a reputible builder. Only one days drive to many places across the border...

Quite a few legit options in the Oregon/Washington area. In Canada I would recommend Forcefed.

This is the one I am talking about, ask for Taylor. Dannobre works with them IIRC.

the exchange rate would murder you, remember you still have to pay in USD.1.33 CDN- $1....economically it would be more headache/ more money driving into the states. Vancouver or Toronto are your options. why not take the engine out and have it shipped/ returned?

^ Depends on the cost of a rebuild down there, gas is waaaaay cheaper, food is waaaaay cheaper, booze is waaaaay cheaper in the states, even with the exchange rate you'd be surprised. It's cheaper for me to drive to Montana every year to go snowboarding than it is to drive to the Canadian Rockies. And besides, like I mentioned before, I don't plan on doing a rebuild any time soon, just curious so I could crunch some numbers.

And not sure if I'd want to pull the engine myself, it's a big job and I have a pretty tiny garage. The cost to pull the engine myself then have it freighted somewhere probably wouldn't be any cheaper than driving the car somewhere and having someone who knows what they're doing pull the engine, rebuild it, then put it back in. Not to mention way less of a hassle.

I purchased a used greddy kit and rebuild the turbo only to find that there is a crack in the exhaust housing where the wastegate is, in other words i need a replacement turbo that fits the kit and has the correct flow for our engine.
I've searched and searched and the mm upgrade is no longer available. I have been looking in to used garrett t28s but I need to know the Inducers and Exducers of the turbine and compressor that would produce the right amount of flow. Please let me know if a better feed or new one would be best to get a response.

I still have not found any direct turbine/compressor sizings and have only seen the A/R of the greddy kit and upgrades for the rx8. I understand we need a higher A/R
My goal is to get a used garrett/greddy turbo of a car and be able to get a tune for close to 300hp
The more I look the more it seems there's less info and more buy this cause it works

Would running a T28 with A/R around .80 work with a tune, i bought the kit and dont want to drop a ton of money into it because im just gonna ride it out and spend money on an rew swap

Post a pic of the crack . It's a common issue and most of us just ignore it, without any downside .

The crack goes all the way through and up to the flange wall

I wouldn't say it's pretty common, and I would not run it like that personally. I have seen cracked Greddy manifolds but never the turbine housing. Except for the one or two here that I can recall.

But I wouldn't do a lot of things other people do so it's your call.

You can also take a regular header if you find one with thick enough walls and just mount it backwards and weld the end of it to angle upwards instead of forwards
