Dudelogger internet racing challenge
A while ago Bastage challeged me to a 1/4 mile drag to be played out on oppostite sides of the globe . I was thinking about how to do this and came up with this idea . A lot of people have Dudelogger these days so why not use the timing function in Dudelogger to have a little internet in gear drag racing.
A lot of the car mags do in gear acceleration testing to compare real world acceleration . IE passing manouvers etc so I thought i would see how my car compared with a turboed 8 tested by Wheels Magazine back in 2005 .
Here are my results 80-120km/hr (50 to 75) mph : 3rd,4th,5th,6th
Stock NA RX8:.........................4.6.........7.2...... .9.0..........11.1 (sept. 2005 wheels magazine)
2005 Alan Horsley turbo RX8:...3.0.........4.0.........5.0..........6.4 (sept. 2005 wheels magazine)
My Greddy turbo RX8:..............2.8.........3.6.......4.4....... ...5.8
NA owners wanting to compare their how a turbo differs from NA should compare my 5th gear time to an NA 3rd gear - something to think about
In the screenshot below I opened up Dudelogger twice and overlayed them to show the pointer line at the two different speeds and times .
Where the speeds did not quite line up I took the slower time . IE below shows 50.2-75.6 so actual time will be slightly quicker. 184.4-181.6 =2.8s
If anyone else wants to play please include all the parameters I did and post your 3rd gear screen shot and tyre size - edit : see post #10
Where are you Bastage ????????
I'm at a slight disadvantage in 3rd gear due to my JDM ratio differing from the US spec but the other gears are the same ....
Tyre size 255/40/18

If this is done without peoples egos getting in the way it will be very interesting and beneficial,,,
What boost are you running Brettus, Bastage has the new pulley, and would be running anywhere from 11psi to 13psi depending if he reaches max boost or not...

I'm runnig 10psi
Of course this is playing into the hands of the turbos but if a longer run out to 95mph or so is prefered i'm open to suggestions ....

/\ does not matter in 3rd gear - as you can see I have 100% throttle the whole way which implies no interferance from traction control and no slip .
That's why I didn't bother with 2nd gear - too dependent on tyre compound as to whether you get traction or not ....

OK lets make it 50mph-85mph in 3rd gear .
This covers the meat of the powerband and does not disadvantage the SC guys .
Would be good to see what the NA guys can do as well ....
My time was 4.2 seconds - (if i apply gear ratio and tyre size correction factors vs stock US model it comes down to 3.91s)

As soon as it cools down here tonight (its 109°F at the moment), I'll put in a run.
BTW - what is your manifold pressure in that 4.2 seconds? My time through that same RPM range is only a few tenths faster, but my airflow is quite a bit higher that what you are showing. I'm at 9.2 PSI or so.

My maf calibration may account for some of the low g/s reading . If I left it stock the numbers would be 6% higher.
edit - if you can do a run in 4th gear as well .....

i just did a couple 3nd gear 3K to 8 K runs and will try to post those tonight. I didnt notice speed.
will try a 50-mph to 8K 3nd gear run later.
found out my air filter was too small. K&N says we need at least 61 sq inches of air filter.

MM -Your glasses need cleaning or something - what is so hard to read ?
The point of the screenshot was to give some credibility to the results - kinda like a 1/4mile timeslip .
How about you post a csv log and i'll see if I can duplicate what you do .....

Since you have no scale on your logs (other than the cross-hair) they are effectively useless.
A normal graphed output would have the timing marks and values along the way.
I'll try to grab a log or two. Freaking hot here at the moment.
