Easiest RX8 turbo conversion with pulse.

Although ive spent many hours reading through various topics on here i still dont quite have the answers im looking for.

What i want to have is a Turbo Rx8 that has a nice pulse.
it must retain all its factory guages etc, electric power steer to operate, abs srs, engine lights etc.

Im in 2 minds as to 1. Rebuild the renesis or 2. Fit an earlier RX7 engine.
Downsides to the renesis amoung other things is they dont pulse very well when bridgeported.
upside to the renesis is that it will bolt straight in.

Downside to the earlier 13b rx7 engine is it wont bolt in.
upside is it can be bridgeported quite successfully.

Question time.
Can the front cover of the renesis be bolted to an FC engine?
can i then mount the fc engine and retain all the rx8 electronics.
Do i then fit an adaptronics ecu or is there another option?

Remembering the main goal here is a smooth brap brap sound with added bonus of a turbo.

Cheers

I'm going to turbo my pulsing N/A soon . Mine has a small pp ex. port to get the pulse and it's better than any other BP Renesis for both power and pulse.
Pretty interested to see how it responds.

I should add ... I've turboed a normal BP Renesis before ...don't do it !

You're asking all the wrong questions.

The most important question is.... how much money you looking/willing to spend?

That's potentially a lot of cheddar ...for the main goal of a "sound".

Willing to spend whatever it takes. Dont have a set budget but from past project's ive found if i pick a sum, double it then double it again it usually comes out about right.

I took out one through bolt and ported through the hole (which meant no possibility of water leaks) .... have a look at a housing and you'll see it's not that hard .

The only solution I know of that retains all the rx8 electronics is the Adaptronic. It works well by all accounts but have not tried it personally.
Try PPRE , they have done a few and may have parts available for the swap.

You can check out my REW swap thread (link in my signature). That will give you an idea on what it takes to swap an older engine in. I don't have the answer to the front cover fitting the FC but with an Adaptronic ECU the front cover doesn't matter. IMO it was less work to use the FD front cover than modify the Rx8 front cover to fit the engine. I have to think it would be similar for an FC engine. I don't believe there are any swap kits for the FC engine into the Rx8 so this subframe/motor mounting would most likely have to be completely custom (which I know you Kiwi's are no strangers to).

As mentioned above I chose the Adaptronic ECU as even with a swapped engine, every single function of the RX8 operates exactly like it did in stock form from the factory. Absolutely zero dash lights or CEL's with all power steering, ABS, Traction control, cruise control, AC, etc functioning identical to stock.

If all you are looking for is some braps and a turbo with no care about engine longevity/performance, then IMO you best bet is to either do the BP mod like Brett suggested, or get an conventional BP done by an engine builder (or do it yourself if you have that ability) and source a used GReddy turbo kit that you can just bolt in. No need for an aftermarket ECU this way, should be able to just flash tune the stock ECU.

^^You have zero lights and CELs with an Adaptronic modular because all that was deleted. It only exists in the OE ecu. The Adaptronic modular is not OBD2 emissions compliant, but neither of you need to worry about that for the country where you live.

Thanks. Rang them yesterday and aiming to drop my car off in about a month.
They offer a drive in drive out service.
kit consists of but not limited to FD plates and housings.
Turbo, adaptronics ecu etc etc. Tunned to at least 400hp.

Well priced at around 25K

Now i just need to find a car to drop off.

23k plus gst.
plus another $1000ish for porting.

Im thinking my business needs a new company car so maybe able to claim the gst back lol

I have a have black rx8 auto, a silver 6speed 6port and a 5speed manual in gunmetal grey.
Auto needs the entire underdash and underbonnet loom changed if i want to go manual. To hard basket.
My silver 6port i want to leave original and keep as an investment.
My gunmetal 5speed rx8 im not a big fan of the colour.
So i am on the lookout for another black or yellow or anything that isnt gunmetal or silver.

I also have 3 red RX8"S and not keen on another.

Comparing the New Zealand Dollar to Canadian, that $25K is extremely reasonable for a turn-key 400whp setup. Any info on turbo selection they offer with that package?
