To stop the controversy, I would just mention that the European Power Homologation Test is a witnessed test, by an official authority. All engines manufactured under this homologation must meet peak power and torque within +/- 5% (at engine speeds meeting the same tolerance). The European authorities can, and do check engine taken from the production line.
I think I read somewhere on this forum that the US Certification test is of the same type now. Before, anything could be, and was, advertised. I should know, I ran the Certification test of the Ford Focus 2.0 and Ford Escape 2.0. In UK. No witness.

Iwas just hoping it wouldbe possible to test the engine with the stock PCM on your latest flash down under, but that sounds like that won't be possible.
So, I wish you luck, given what I'm seeing on some of the interceptor NA tunes, 250 isn't out of the question.

Like Rasputin said, with the sCANalyser, we have the technology to map out the basic fuelling and timing characteristics of the stock PCM. Then we can put a "equivalent" tune up in the MoTeC - i.e. achieve the same timing advance as stock, and the same Lambda readings (Air Fuel Ratios) as stock. What then is the difference?

Its running...
We got the engine started the other night. Just ran it for a couple of minutes to make sure we are ready for the trip to the engine dyno.
I took video, but the "studio" was less than ideal. It really needed some more light, as the engine was sitting against a dark backdrop of race car tires.
But at least it shows it running, all by it's little self...

I've got a larger resolution version I am just trying to get uploaded (with some difficulty )
If you look carefully, there are a couple of instances of the flames coming out of the exhaust. Try at about the 1min 10s and 1:25 marks. Pity I didnt have a dark background behind the 'zaust!

I'd wager, with the motec, it's just gonna be where expected. I managed to almost get 220 flywheel Hp with the stock ecu (ABS lights on when dynoing).
The Renesis seems to be a pretty formula one engine, I mean high rpm performance.
When in high rpms (Dyno time) it seems to hold back a little (Which I never get with normal driving).
Thing is, my dyno graph showed the renesis coming alive from 6.200 to 8.500 rpm. No twin-turbo REW, BTW.
The renesis shows it is managed by a pretty conservative ECU. Mazda has really held back the potential through PCM maps. I am really positive on that.
Bottom line is, the Renesis can actually even cope with REW performance, although emissions standards have kept it from being engine of the year all along. I mean HP not torque, the REW has torque the Renesis can never dream of.
Remember Torque moves cars, Hp just sell 'em...

Essentially, horse-power is about how fast you can spin it.. torque is about how hard you can spin it. The Renesis revs pretty high to make that 230 hp (flywheel), to 8500rpm on the paper figures.

The total length of time it ran was what was on the vid. No load. Not enough temp to need coolant for those couple of minutes. It wasn't a tuning session. As you could see, the tune up we had was enough to make it start and run, and free rev a little. It was purely a brief excercise to ensure we could start it, so that when we got to the engine dyno we didn't waste any time.
I'd ask you to show more respect, not just to me, but moreso to someone who is too modest to get on the internet and brag about thier own achievements.
Down-under we use the term "******" on the odd occasion. I'd hate to see it applied to you for some loose comments you made.
