Engine Swap EMS?

Just for kicks and giggles to all the more experienced tuners out there such as CRH or MM, how realistic is it to run a different 13b(ie 13b-re or 1b-rew) off the computer in the rx8? Basically the computer running our renesis is pretty powerful, and as we are seeing, tuning is ever improving with reflashers such as the AP. How possible would it be to do an engine swap and run it with the rx8 computer and AP? Im not thinking any wild high horsepower with a fully built engine, but just fairly light mod numbers (maybe smaller single turbo) that are common from the 7 community.

60-1 and GT35R are common in the RX-7 community. If you want something smaller, why wouldn't you just stick with the Renesis?

still a legitimate question. I would love to use the rx8 ecu with a cobb on my REW swap instead of spending over 1200 on a microtech.

The GT35r and 60-1 was what I was thinking about. The difference is they make over 400whp and 300wtq all day, no problem and the renesis simply doesn't. Regardless, anyone have any idea if it could work?

The sensors are different, mainly the eccentric shaft position sensor and the RX-8 PCM won't read the FD sensor.

You could try swapping sensors, but then the ignition is still a problem since the RX-8 ignition system works differently as well.

Yeah the eccentric shaft sensor would be an issue. However would the ignition be an issue? Would it not be possible to just use the 8's ignition system. How different are the plugs?

ps. Chickenwafer, your 8 is so sweet.

The stock ignition is very weak but you can use it if you have the right plugs...you would need to upgrade the ignition though to get anywhere

Oh of course! Not the stock ignition system but an upgraded rx8 system.
