esmeril racing turbo kit
Hello,
I`m from germany and I have the 6 port 170kw version. I wanna have the esmeril racing kit and there are a view question. (Mazdaparts didn´t write back).
I´ve already read a lot of that kit. I have 6 ports and i´ve read that i have to reduce on 4 port for that kit. Is that write? And the pre tuned EMS includes what? I wanna have 380 whp. How can I get the software for my EMS? Rotarys are not pretty famous in germay so there is no one to ask.
Thanks!

I would read this thread as well if your goal is 380whp
Anyway the kit works with 6ports engines, maybe you read about blocking the SSV?
Tuning is fundamental with such a modification too, relying on a base map is a suicide, especially since you will be pushing the car with 380hp (something well over the goals of a "safe" base map) and the int-x has got a pretty marked granularity that limits the precision of the tune.
There are other in depth aspects that some expert will probably care to elaborate more.

Thanks for answering.
But, how many whp would the standard EMS (interceptor-x) make? How much would it make with a tune on dyno? Has anyone experience with that kit. Esmeril racing says 414whp. Is it possible with the parts that are included?

The turbo kit itself MAY be able to reach that goal but you would have to buy some add-ons like better coils. I don't know if they use better turbos now, the first kits had serious problem with cheap turbos you may want to ask it, i really can't remember if they now use branded turbos. Add a boost controller as well. 485$ for the coils and around 400$ for the boost controller.
Tuning and int-x\microtech ems is not the hardest thing to do but it has got some limitations as stated in the previous post. Would you give your engine to somebody who possibly never tuned a 13b-msp like ours, let alone with that ECU?
I'm not saying that you should or should not consider this kit, there's plenty of informations out there that you can look\search for. I'm just trying to point out the pros and cons of this choice.
Also, do you want to focus on peak power only or do you want driveability as well? That peaky 414hp run had less average power than other kits that were seeing way less max HP.
It's a matter of personal goals and some further research will help you make an educated decision.

The Esmeril kit does have issues, chief among them being the crappy chinese eBay turbo. They offer an option for a "branded" turbo, but I'm not sure specifically which one they offer and the efficiency. Usable power is a lot more important than peak power as bse50 already mentioned. I would chat with Chris from Esmeril and see what options they offer for a turbo that isn't junk.

I would agree to talk to Chris, he'll be able to get you what you want. Looking at all the quality parts that are in that kit and how well made they are its not a bad choice at all! If you wanted a better turbo he can get that for you and as far as power goes with a boost controller you just have to dial it up. His turbo's are big enough to flow the air you need so just be safe tune it right and I believe you needed about 13-16psi to get to the numbers you wanted. You might want to add the meth kit for safety.

Hey,
I´ve contacted chris but he didn´t answer. He is the Head Engineer, isn´t he? Perhaps he don´t like german people . Esmeril Racing.com and mazdaparts didn´t answer. So what else can I do?
Thanks

Did you try to PM him here? Chris is crazy, he's always doing something. Just send him a PM and if he takes a day or two to get back to you its because of his schedule. During work hrs he usually get back to me. If you only knew what people like me and his other clients ask of him you'd understand.
