Exhaust suggestions

I recently got a 2005 rx-8 and was wondering which exhaust has the best combination of sound, hp/torque increase, reliability, and price. I would really appreciate everyone's suggestions.

Reliability doesn't apply. Most are made of stainless steel or titanium. Hp/Torque increases are hard to come by with ANY aftermarket exhaust on this car. The OEM system is not that bad power wise. So that leaves looks, price & sound and I vote for the

Greddy SP2.

check out the exhaust video/sound clips at mazdatrix.com

I'm going to be getting a Borla soon, myself. Has an very deep, smooth sound that all but the Mazdaspeed seem to lack.

Do you plan on boosting? If not, then the diameter of the pipeing won't really matter.
I suggest going to a local RX-8 meet and listen to what everyone else has, and decide from there.

BTW, why is this in the major horsepower section.??? GET OUT OF HERE YOU Normally Aspirated NOOB!!! HAHAHAHA Just Kidding, and welcome to the board

don't forget weight savings. beyond sound it's probably the best benefit you'll get from a catback.

And I vote Rx8store.com catback.

Since a exhaust upgrade really don't do much, would it be a good idea to just replace the mid pipe?

i think RB adds a few pounds if i recall correctly...

Forum wise i see ALOT of greddy or RB then borla trailing behind a lil bit...

I personaly have a Greddy with SR motorsports high flow cat... so idk how greddy sounds by itself.. i love my set up its loud, not omg freaking civic loud but like wow thats what a car should sound liek... negative.s.. if i screw up a shift... you can hear it through my exhaust lol ie on the clutch and gas it to early high rev lol.....

hope this helps

thanks for everybody's suggestions. I really like the greddy from what everybody said and it sounds really good from the clips ive heard. the rotary extreme also looks promising and sounds good too. Any more suggestions would really help too so i can get some more opinions on those two exhausts.

From what I have been hearing from clips and from other people (i met in person) who have exhausts on their Rx-8, borla sounds the nicest

The only exhaust that gives a nice hp/torque increase has a turbo in the middle of it!! :p Its a little on the low side for reliability, and a little on the high side for price, though. :o

Idk who the 'you' is you're asking, but the last post is 15 years old.

Try a Google search for more recent threads.
This one isn't quite so old, there are others.
