A few nitrous questions, mostly electrical
I'm getting ready to install the zex nitrous kit soon, need to know a few things please. Keep in mind i'm very much useless with electrical wiring and never used nitrous previously. But I have to learn sometime (soon).
- Is it possible to use a window switch with the rx8? How would it be installed? Any recommendations would be good.
- I've been advised by a performance shop to use a push button switch instead of tapping into the TPS for added safety. But wouldn't the zex module be expecting a signal from the throttle wire to activate? Can I not use them both simultaneously? which would be ideal but again how would it be wired up?
- I have the zex bottle heater, which as I have read has a built in thermostat. It has 2 wires, black and red. I take it black is ground and red for power. Would this always be running whenever my ignition is on? What if I don't want to use the nitrous... or if the bottle is not in the car? And is there a chance that it will overheat/overpressure the bottle if the thermostat fails?
- Can extra solenoids be installed in series for extra security, in case existing ones leak?
Thanks

1) A window swich will not work for your rx8.
2) Don't lisin to that profromace shop a push button is not safer than the WOT swich that it comes with. the nitrous will only come on when your car gets to its WOT voltage.
3) The wiring is really easy to hook up the WOT sensor all you do is splice the white wire to the the thorttle position sensor (TPS). Then waht I did to power up the system was I found a empty fuse that had power to it only when the car is on, there is one where the driver kick pannle is check the install the swich after program it and its done. O you'll have to ground it also.
4)Make sure to use a new fuel line for this also, the stock hard line will not fit in the T that the zex kit comes with. 5) double and triple check all fuel, nitrous, and electrial lines.
Good luck with the install and welcome to the nitrous oxide club

Your window switch should be you. Just don't floor it until 4,500rpm and you'll be fine.
And as far as the TPS switch, why would you inherit the possibility of human error with a push button? Wire it into the TPS circuit and you'll be safe so long as you don't floor it under 4,500.
Nitrous takes a bit of self control, all you're trying to do with these shortcuts is make up for your possible mistakes.
