Talking First RX8 in Puerto Rico with Greddy- 273HP

(First, sorry for any syntax error, my first language it's Spanish)

We finish our installation two weeks ago.
My mechanic tell me that run the car for at least 400 miles
before a dyno run............................

We put the car on the dyno yesterday. The car makes 273HP in 4th gear and near 260HP on 3rd gear. (on the attached dyno we have 2 runs one in 3th and 4th gear)

I make a few 1/4 mile run's with my g-tech and the best times are between
13.90 - 14.20 sec.
Right now my big problem it's traction in first gear the car it's lo loose
and you waste time before the car has good traction.

Next step is to install a boost controller...........we need to have constant
7 psi boost. Between runs on the dyno we note that at full throttle the car don't
Maintain the 7 psi.

The car has the Greddy kit but also has pulleys, ACT clutch, Flywheel, Hi flow Cat, resonator, 10.5 spark plugs and other modifications.
I'm happy because I was expecting near 240 HP, when I buy the car the first dyno was 175 HP.

I agree with others that this is another car........

My tuner removes the front sticker of the emanage and manually set the last to
screws and we get 4 HP more and the car it's running richer......
To tune this emanage manually it's not easy, it's easier with a computer.........

NOW WE NEED THE PASSWORD FOR THE EMANAGE!

If some one have the password and can give it to me
I really appreciate it...........

The tuner it's and expert working with the Greddy emanage on other
cars and it's ready to make some changes to see if we can make more HP.

If any one has questions, please let me know...............

and again, sorry for any syntax errors!

Manuel

Manuel- very good info and no syntax errors. I'd love to bring my car down to P.R. and have your tuner install Greddy and tune car. WOW 273 H.P. That GREAT

Thanks,

We are ready to try to get more HP.............just need the emanage password.

My mechanic it's the owner and mechanic of the local racing beat dealer.
They have a lot of experience with rotary engines.................

Thanks ,Rx8MAN04X
The car also has a lot of carbon fiber on the interior.......................

RX8power,
Thanks, I think that you know how good are the local guys with rotaries..........
To get the 273HP they already make some tricks..........

our next step it's increase HP.............. 300HP? maybe........I wish

with the boost controller (already ordered) and with stable fuel supply
we think we can get a few more HP.

My big concern it's traction, one's we find some more HP we are going to
change the differential. We need to down the 1/4 mile times.

Manuel, what was your dyno after your other mods but before the Greddy? I'm assuming you did another dyno after your initial mods. Thanks.

RX8PR,

I'm trying to work on my car here with couple of guys who got, RX-7's, Starlets, 1200 and GLC's, right now I got 10K available, well kind off, I'm trying to buy a house so if I don't have to pay for any down payment, everything it's going under the hood.

It was 181HP and on that time I feel so bad, I was thinking on a bigger number.............
But on that time it's was all plug & play no tuning..........
with the turbo installation the mechanic spend some time tuning...............

Last I heard - gtech wasnt very accurate. I think one member on here evencalled it a fun toy. And even if his figures are correct - I seriously doubt his Rx8 would only be running the quarter in 13.9 w/273 whp. I think that number is bhp. Reason being is that a stock 350z (which has about 240whp) runs the quarter mile around the same time as his 8.

he did mentioned that he has bad wheel hop in first, so 13.9 on a bad launch don't account for much. Measure flywheel hp is pretty tough compared to whp from what i've heard, his original figures of 175hp was base on whp i don't see why 273 would be any different.

Yes the gtech are not accurate readings but I just used to get some estimsated 1/4 mile times. This morning on the highway I make 14.07 on one run and 14.15 on the other one
always with traction problems on first gear

to prevent denotation we use 10.5 spark plugs we also tuned the emanage manually
to have the car runing reacher at high rpm's this helps a lot with detonations

The 273HP are at the wheel in 4th gear, at 3 gear we have less HP near 260............
the torque is 235 in 3 gear
We make a lot of dyno runs and the car makes all the time between 268-275 HP range

Remember it's not only the greddy kit, we tuned the emanage manually to get some HP
we also had pulleys, ACT cluth, Flywheel, cat back, hi, flow cat, resonator.
we're using only the greddy MAF sensor we disconnect the factory one, with the factory
one we have serious problems at idle..............we have a CEL but the car is runing without problems.

Manuel;

I am also from PR and I would like to get the racing beat exhaust, where is the racing beat dealer in PR? By the way, where do you test your car in Carolina or Salinas? I would like to see it. Thanks.

Those ultra-cold spark plugs allow him to run reallyu lean for a turbo. That can give you a bit more horsepower at the wheels. The trade off is they foul VERY easily and you will have to replace them every 1500-2000 miles.

you have to remember his other mods are going to factor into his gains as well.
