You people are crazy.
2jz is an awesome engine. Much better than 98% of the other engines suggested in this thread.
I agree it's heavy, but things can be adjusted to fix that, I'm sure he's not going to leave it all stock suspension.

if this thing can handle, i'll bow down at your feet.
if i were to pick a piston engine to stick under my 8... i would've gone with supercharged s2k engine. anyway... that's just me.
i do have one legitimate question tho... if you're going with i6, why didn't you choose the r34 engine?
anyhow, i wish you luck. please keep us posted.

the r34 engine is great, but cost and availability was the issue.

OKAY OKAY OKAY
we get what your doing but what about the cost???? how much did u get the 8 or what was left of it for? motor cost? labor cost? a side by side comparison of cost and power of your frankenstein machine against an 8 and it's cost. then if it plays out then you'd be a visionary but if this end;s up costing 50K+ and turn to a pos freak car then we'll laugh but all in all good luck very interesting idea.

Here in Puerto Rico you can find a Nissan 240 sx with a GM 4.2 Lt I6 Turbo making 1200 + Rwhp outperforming the supras 2jtz on the tracks and streets for every day.

actually, i'd tune it up to about 500/500 or so for street use on pump gas. that'd be plenty good for me.

I'm just curious as to how you plan to actually put 1,000 hp to the ground in this car...

The nice thing about drag racing is that with certain ecu's now such as the Haltech, they have a launch control feature. It retards the timing pretty far at idle which causes alot of the fuel to burn in the exhaust. This spools the turbo up without a load. That's the only wy those guys get moving off the line so quickly now. This technique is great for racing but is incredibly hard on the turbo. Before that tuning technique, none of those guys were all that impressive for their power output.

Fifth stroke anybody?? LoL.
Great for spooling, but will kill a turbo in no time when it burns all that gas right there.

The same anti-lag is used on the WRC cars. http://www.rallycars.com/Cars/bangbang.html
