I'll go check it out one of these days when I get some time. The shop is open 9-5, closed weekends, which is the same hours I work. Last I saw, the engine was in the car, but this was almost a month ago.

I wasnt trying to be ignorant, just saying most of the people who blow their engine have just installed a tubro without a tune.

I'm sure he was merely trying to revise...or make an addedum to your post, 3 words vs 1 word.

ya dig?

I've had a blast reading through this thread, LOL. I'll tell you an interesting swap for an RX-8 would be the 4G63 turbo motor. A friend of mine is making approximately 510 awhp with 93 pump gas and alcohol. Light weight RX-8, AWD, that'd be one hell of a car. You know honestly Mazda should solve all our problems. Hey Mazda, I know you're out there listening! WE WANT YOU TO BUILD A TWIN TURBO CHARGED 20B AWD RX-8! NOW GIT ER DONE!

C.J.

P.S. what happend to dudes project? had to scrap mine for family reasons.

What's up Swoope, I've been watching this thread on and off for a while now. Part of me feels bad for the guy and all the bashing he's getting. Then there's that part of me that's laughing my *** off at his cockiness.

I hope he realizes that the first time he guns it off the line with 1000 rwhp, half the drivetrain components will go BOOM.

I give him a week before his PPF is broke in two :-D

I'm VERY sure this has been asked COUNTLESS times in this thread. And my apologies to everyone for asking this again ... but straight up folks,

WHY NOT JUST GET A SUPRA!!!!!!!

... but even further questioning could be:
why not a 20B swap
why not a 13B REW swap
why not dry carbon the whole car
etc.

Now to be honest and fair, to each his own. It's your car and your money.

^^^
With what this guy was talking about doing with the RX-8, there wouldn't be a warranty on that either.

WOW! I read through the first couple of pages of this thread and I have to say that for original thinking and uniqueness, this guy gets a thumbs up. Most in this orum will say that there are better engine choices to go with and that is ok. I still think that it is his vision and some people in this forum need to retract there claws somewhat. let the man dream his way. Damn. Has anybody ever heard of the saying to each there own? Prop's to the builder and if you build it I want to see it.

Alright little lost here, so he is going to drive this car on the street with 350 hp at 10psi then he will have 1000 hp at 33 psi. so he is going to gain 650hp out of 23 psi. that is 28hp per psi. NO WAY.

And what reason for the vette tranny, has to be because thats what you owned before and totaled it and have some spare parts laying around. Can't be because it's so durable, or has a wonderfull gear ratio, or even better it can't be becase it's so cheap.

I understand the whole orignality of the subject, but if you where going to spend this kind of money, which it will be alot, wouldn't do some kink of research and what would be the best option.
Because it's clear you have haven't put to much thought into this, just imagination.

I mean really what are your goals for this car, because the way your going.
This car is going to handle for ****
NO TRACTION so it will be no good for track.

currently Supra motor going into rx8. "when" it is done, First Supra 8 totaled leaving shop because it didn't even make it 3 blocks straight. but it will be fast as hell . . . across the intersection over the curb through the parking meters and into the fire hydrant and wall. assuming you lose a fight and catch the tooth fairy in a really generous mood and she decides to leave your dream car built correctly instead of a nickel.

It would be nice to see some pics.

The school someone attends doesn't imply the knowledge of correct grammar. I know a few mechanical engineers from Penn that can't distinguish between semicolons, colons and commas.

I know I am WAY late here, but I just read the whole thread. first off congrats and thumbs up for making YOUR car your own. anyone that knows me knows I like modified cars, I am not a big fan of stock cars.

BUUUUT. anyone that knows me knows that I am a BIG fan of leaving rotaries rotaries. but what ever, to each his own.

My biggest problem is your comments above. first of all you are throwing out some pretty rough comments to some of the best RX-8 people on the forum. you are starting to sound like the typical piston engine owner thinking his "2JZ no $hit" engine is the best thing ever..... that didnt take long.

you want respect for being original.... you got it form me.

you want respect for doing a custom engine swap (we all know ANY engine swap is not easy. more so when you change manafactures) you got a little of that respect from me. being as YOUR not the one doing it, just funding it, most repect goes out to the shop.

you want respect for being a cool guy, one that is a little modest about the power of his car. one that does not act like his $hit dont stink. you are failing here.

by the way, what is the progress? I see it has been forever? did you give up?

I now remember why I'd unsubscribed from this thread...one of the most worthless threads on this forum.

Looks like this kid's project is dead in the water.
