To Flywheel or not to flywheel
I'll be changing the clutch in my RX8. Debating wether or not to change the flywheel. I would like to know any impressions from those that have a lightened flywheel and a turbo.
Thanks

I got the setup your asking for! My thoughts... If you´re about to swap clutch, do the flywheel as well when you´re at it. I got the flywheel and clutch kit from SR Motorsports together with the lightweight pulleys. Its an amazing differnce in "feel" when stepping on the gaspedal

Yep, if you are doing the clutch, you should definitely do the flywheel at the same time. It is a very labor intensive action (dropping the tranny) might as well do it just once. Works fine, and car still revs quickly with the turbo & flywheel.

I've had flywheels in a few different RX-7's. My favorite has always been the lightweight aluminum one from SR motorsports. I love light flywheels and prefer the aluminum to the steel ones. That's a personal preference though. I think all rotaries should have them.

Hmmm...with a well-tuned turbo+boost controller, you might have problems hooking up in 1st & 2nd without the traction control shutting your throttle.
I have the turbo, stock flywheel, and oversize tires on the stock rims. Traction control kicks in when I floor it in 1st and also the 1/2 & 2/3 shifts. With the traction control turned off, you have to be careful or you'll just smoke your tires.
So, I guess I'm the contrarian here by not seeing a need for a light flywheel with an FI 8.
