Geddy kit owners please read! URGENT
I recently installed the latest dongle update that was issued by Greddy. I test drove the car yesterday(after installing it) and while out on a test drive the engine has lost the rear rotor. At the time the car was not under full load and I was not at more than 3-4 psi. I did have the car tuned after the original map was not satisfactory and it has been running well for the last six months until now. I have contacted a represntative at Greddy USA in regards to this but as of yet nothing has been resolved.
I would urge anyone using this update to remove it until this has been resolved. I think this latest update has some programing that has caused a severe lean condition in the engine. I thought it would be helpful to warn others so no one else ends up with a broken engine.
If anyone is interested in my conversation with the Benny at Greddy please contact me. I would rather not start a unproductive finger pointing thread. I am hoping that they are willing to offer some good customer support.
I will keep the forum updated.

Broke_Apex_Seal, Sucks about your motor. Could you have wired it wrong?
I've had the 3rd dongle in since last week and my car runs fine. I had the shop put it in for me since they were already working on it (O2 bung for tuning). The only noticeable difference was the airpump staying on for alittle while after turning the car off, which Benny said is normal.

No it is actually pretty hard to wire it wrong. The kit was already wired for this but they deleted it on the first shipments. So making all the connections was very simple.
I think anyone with this update would be taking a gamble every time you get on the throttle. Some 8's may do fine and well others may blow like mine did.

does anyone know what exactly the purpose of this 3rd dongle is? I know it eliminates 2 CEL's but what is it disabling/spoofing, I believe I read it does something with the 02 sensor.

As I understand it. The latest update does invlove the o2 sensor. Which could be directly responsible for a faulty o2 reading resulting in your broken engine. This is unfortunate. Have you heard any updates from the rep at Greddy USA about this? Have they offered to investiagte further and offer some sort of compensation?

my kit came with the 3rd dongle already in it and for the past two months I have had the kit I have not "lost my rear rotor". I'm pretty sure it's still in the rotor housing. LOL, sorry just had to say it! But seriously no problems from 3rd dongle.

Hey broken so was there any sign of that going to happen when you got in to it .... or jsut happend when you where at WOT ???? hmm kinda has me scared i still have the same dongle in that my kit came with .... wich i belive is the second dongle .... i dont mind a CEL ......

Well it was under part throttle that is what is scary. After speaking with greddy about this situation they have only test 3 cars which all were cali. models so I am not sure if it makes a difference or not but if you have the 3rd donlge I would toss it or do wha I am going to do and toss the e-manage and go stand alone. Also greddy feels that the e-manage is not up to par but they think it is good enough to sell kits which I think sucks because everyone who gets a kit is a risk to break there engine. Anyone intrested in buying a Greddy kit beware it is a ticking time bomb IMO. I DO NOT recommened this kit. Wait until someone comes out with a real engine management before buying any turbo kit for that matter. The motor is out and the seal did not damage the turbo so that is my upside. On to the rebuild phase.

This definitly worries me, but at this point I think it is too early to blame it on Greddy's kit. Many Renesis motors have blown, but it doesn't mean the Renesis is a bad/faulty motor. Maybe your motor was already defective, maybe your Greddy kit was defective, maybe something in your install was defective. There are alot of variables here. One blowing is not enough to draw concrete conclusions. Hell manuel got 280hp out of the Greddy emanage without blowing his motor.

Wow...sorry to hear that! Hopefully your 8 will be and running soon...sorry about your poor 8.
I hope in the future there will be enough NA upgrades to increase HP significantly or else once mine is all paid I might go the 3-rotor way (well...if the price aint crazy that is)...which it probably is.
