Getting Dyno tuned Friday, Any suggestions?

I have an appointment this Friday to have my Greddy turbo tuned, I hae had the kit on since about last May but it was never tuned and it really needs tuneing. Te shop that is doing has done RX-7s before so the are familiar with rotary engines and say like can do the 8, but as we all know the Renesis is not the same as other 13Bs. So does anyone have any suggestions, like whats a good AFR range?

horse, i love your 8! I am thinking of getting the same body kit on my blue 8. could you post or pm me some more pics of it?

also you have the greddy and zex wet? have you sprayed the car since the greddy was installed? any problems with detination?

i also wanted to do a greddy turbo w/ nitrous, but thought it would kill the engine without proper tuning.

sorry about being so off topic and hijacking the thread!

Not so well, something is wrong. HP would soar to 151hp at 6000rpm and then fall to 68hp at 9000 rpm. After talking to Ben at Greddy we determined that my e-01 has the wrong firmware while t was trying to connect to the emange it erased the map, and it turns out the shop doesn't have the software for the emanage. Rather than spending the money on the support tool, when I wanted your product anyway, I was going to place an order today for the interceptor. But now I have bigger problems, on the way home I go to get on the interstate I push the pedal to the floor and nothing the car locks at that RPM and actually slows down, if I gradually move to WOT it does the same thing but it backfires and actually sounded like it popped under the hood, and I heard metal rattleing or beating and something smells horrible, but I don't think it's clutch. So I don't know what to do.

the hestitation and sticking at one rpm range sounds like how mine did when the ecu trimmed too much fuel out, reset your ecu and see what happens

whats that reset, may help the rest of us with trim problems? I always just pull the negative terminal on battery, tried the reset on the tripometer, but that did not change the a/fs.

Well I dont specificly know why it's doing this but I don't think it's because of the turbo.

no dynapac, apparently the problem we had in Wilmington was because I erased the map. And I was refering to the odometer trick, I already did the negative cable one and it didn't help.

metal rattling = detonation. And your detonating because your driving around with no emanage map!!
Did the shop or Benny tell you not to go into boost since your map was erased?
Did the rpms "stick" as soon as the boost went positive?

"Pop" under the hood is never a good thing. Keep us posted on how bad it is.

No Benny didn't say anything about it. The RPMs stick when I go WOT, I can still make boost. I had the car dynoedin june and the powerloss was the same, which means I erased the map a while back, and Benny doesn't seem to think it's because of not having a map.

wait, you had a major problem with your fuel management, and you were driving the car, let alone "pushing the pedal to the floor". im sorry, but that was just plain stupid. now im not saying that it is totally your fault, but the shop should have said something to you about not driving aggressively, and you should know if something isnt right, you shouldnt drive aggressively. i do feel bad that you wrecked your engine, and i hope you get things worked out. contact mazmart about a new motor, you should be able to get a used one in good condition for a relatively decent price

Like I said I erased the map in May, unknowingly, when I first tied to use the e-01 and has been driven since then and know all of the sudden this. Can anyone explain the smell you can only smell this horrible smell inside the car.

Is the CEL blinking all the time? Also does the car shake at idle? Does it sound like a lawn mower?

Check your heat tape. Since you are probably running very lean the turbo temps would get high enough to start burning the undercoating on the chassis as it did on mine. I will be installing a new heat sheild that I made of 14 guage to stop the smell.
Just a thought.

Unfortunately Adrian is probably correct... You may have a dead motor.

It's not a dead motor because it has enough compression to start, idles fine, and free revs fine.
