good news from haltech
turns out the rx8's crank wheel is the same as late model scooby's...
so the e8 can be piggybacked with the stock ecu!!! YAY!!
we'll still need a cable throttle for now, but whoopity-doo.
who wants to be my guinea pig?

yea
i'm thinking about leaving the 6pi up to the stock computer--we'll feed it all the sensor info, then just pirate the fuel and ignition control.
we can use some kind of aftermarket (or whoever's oem we can find for cheap) throttle body, and just run the cable inside.
i'm not sure at this point if we can keep the check engine light off all the time, but there are a few tricks we can do...see if any of those work.
anyone know where to find the ecu and wiring connector harness connectors? if i cna get ahold of those and the pins, i can build a plug n play...

Go Texas Longhorns!
with our megasquirt standalone project, we are going to try to leave the throttle and the 6port to the ecu and the rest to the megasquirt. You might try it without the cable first

Here is what a WRX crank wheel looks like. It is not the same as the RX-8. The RX-8 uses what is referred to as a 36-2-2-2 and currently the only ecu that can read it is Motec.

Hi Dave,
The RX8 crank trigger is the same as later WRX's surprisingly! Controlling your modified RX8 should be no problem at all mate!
If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.

its possible that since the subi wheel appears to be non standard (is it a 36-2-2?) that the Haltech may have a setting that will allow it to read a RX8 wheel which is a 36-2-2-2. Its nothing complicated, its just code, if you can program 36-1, 36-2 etc.... then a 36-x-x-x-.... isn't hard.
I would just ask Haltech if they can read a 36-2-2-2.
