well, we've hit our first snag in the project...up until now, everything's gone smooth as glass, but i went to fire it up and cranky, but no fire... exhaust smells like fuel, so it's getting half of what it needs at least, but i'm out of daylight and my buddy still has my good droplight, so i'll wait until morning. we're getting gas, just no fire.
kinda sucks, but i'll get it figured out in the morning when i'm fresh...i'm still in shock from my car getting stolen

eh, probably something simple--forgot a connector or something dumb..
i did plug the scanner in, though. maf, ect, iat and crank angle sensors are all good. and it's getting gas, so i just need to figure out why there's no fire. shouldn't be any big deal--i wouldn't lose any sleep over it if i were you.
now let me take you guys back to the days of the rx7.... back before obd2.
to get the info i got from my scanner in 10 seconds would have taken a couple hours...at least! i'm definately a BIG fan of obd2-except for chryslers, for some reason, their obd1 is better.
anyway, 10 seconds with the scanner and i ruled out 5 sensors. now i know (not for sure, but definately an educated guess) it's probably something in the ignition system. so i'll start there and it'll probably be a 5 minute fix......but then again, it may take me all day. LOL
it's kinds embarrassing, but since this is more of a documentation of the project, i'll go ahead and admit to having a problem. everything has gone so smoothly so far, the luck was bound to run out sooner or later :p

Make sure you got the plug wires in the right spots. It sounds simple enough but I did that to my RX-7 last year and damn near killed myself trying to figure out what it was. I felt pretty stupid messing up something so simple.

hey, did i freak out the inhibitor system by disconnecting the battery?
i bet it's something dumb like that...maybe not that exactly, but i'm gonna poke through the manual and do some homework.

I accidently tripped the security system by having a loose connection to the ECU. The symptoms were a bit different from what you are seeing. When I turned the key the security light would illuminate but the engine would not turn over. Where as in your case the engine turns but you don't have any spark.

i'll keep pluggin' away at it. i'm sure the motor is fine--i tested the compression in my garage. the manual has like 10 pages of crank but no-start...more homework.
don't sweat it though, we've got this far--i'll figure it out.
