under the normal run of things, i would wait a few hundred miles- at least... it's got 100 on it, though. the dyno run may or may not be a few hp under what it will do once it's fully run-in, but it should be enough to get a fine idea.

Guitar you are amazing. I'm really sorry about your car and I hope the bastards get caught. I'm pretty excited for dyno results :D 5884508435843 WHP, eat that! :D

dyno definately wasn't what i thought it would be...but gains are gains
keep in mind, this is with absolutely ZERO tuning...the arf actually got RICHER at some points!!!!!
we gained 9 hp in 4th gear and 14 hp in 3rd gear. if you look, you can see you now actually do have more power @ 9k rpm than you do at 6k in 4th gear...not like before.

we did lose about 6 hp @ 6k in 4th gear, but it's 2/10th richer right there than it was before (how the hell did that happen??)
i want to take another run after the motor is fully broken in and see what we can get out of it...i bet another 5 at least.
so the dyno wasn't what any of us were hoping for, but with the afr in the 11's, there is MUCH MUCH room for improvement with tuning. this is the no BS, honest-to-god gains that i saw today. air temp is within 6 degrees of where it was on the original dyno day.
let's add exhaust, 2 jacobs fc1000's on the leading, and some tuning, and i bet we pull another 50 whp out of it...especially if we do it closer to sea level instead of 4500 feet!
in 3rd gear, we have a total hp gain of 8% with no tuning. even though it's not what we were all hoping for, i think it's enough to call this a very successful adventure.

How do you plan to "Tune" It?
You might have gotten more HP out of the cleaning alone.
It is starting to look like the ECU is whats holding this car back.
Looks like we will all have to buy a CZ before doing anythign else to the car. :o

Are you kidding? With AFR's that rich? An emanage on my car changing AFR's from 12.9 or so to 13.9 or so gave me about 25-30HP. So I am sure working on some tuning will net a nice huge increase :D
And for this being the first public Renesis porting job, I think it's a good start.

i'll talk to snoochie and see what he want to do. whatever we do, it definatley could do with some leaning out...definately.
peak hp would probably be about the same (since it's about 13:1 at the very upper rpm limit), but the midrange could be made quite a bit better.

Wait!! That is corrected to SAE power. Can you call them and see if they can reprint it in standard corrected power? But since they printed it in sae before that is good for comparison but most shops use STD corection which will show higher. Also it will correct to sea level on STD and I belive 500 FT on SAE. I don't have my books here or I could do it for you.
Anyone getting dyno work done be sure you know which correction factor they use. They can give you both it is just a switch position.
While the dyno corrects for the elevation I don't know how well the ecu does.

small problem..
i noticed a hissing sound developing and the car started idling a little rough... after an inspection, i found that the donut on the front secondary injector was cracked! it felt spongy enough when i put it on, but i guess not.
this isn't the end of the world, but now i gotta get a donut and replace it...it's a buger to get to! snooch, you can still take the car, but bring it back to me as soon as i get the donut and i'll replace it for you. sorry bro, but even i make mistakes sometimes. i shoved a little bit of rtv around the base of the injector, so that may clean the idle up. it's drivable anway, that's just something i want to replace asap-since it is my fault.

Congratulations on what you've achieved so far.
This has been like a good book. An excellent read. I've so enjoyed returning to check on the progress here. Terrific!! Good luck.
Paul.
ps Horsepower doesn't come easy, especially normally aspirated.

Not what we all wanted but it's still good. And the thing with porting is you arn't just paying to get the raw power from the porting but everytime you do something else to the car it's a bigger improvement because of the porting. Effectively having a better engine. I don't dig the hissing sound but will it be a problem driving? And may this have been a minor hp decrease? Just throwing things out there. Like air was getting lost because it was escaping. Or I have no idea what I'm talking about. Also did you wanna do the whole you drive down here and I drive you home?

1) yea, we're hoping this amplifies every other modification made from here on out...like instead of gettint 8-12 hp from an exhaust, maybe that number will be 15-20? etc etc...
2) no, the vacuum leak makes the idle a little rough, but it's not big enough to effect normal driving. i don't know if it effected power on the dyno....maybe, maybe not. probably not much, if anything
3) yea, i'll drive it to you and you can give me a ride home. give me a call and let me know where and what time. i'll let you know as soon as i get the o-ring and we'll take care of that.

Alright well I'm off of work at 9:15 if you wanna meet me here. Drive down the 15 and get off at foothill. Turn right and pass all the new mall traffic, pass rochester, pass milliken, pass elm (all of those are lights) Go up Spruce (also a light) and make an immediate right and you should see us "Pick Up Stix in case you forgot. If you have issues call the work number (909) 484-2000.
